Shinji Mikami's consoles of choice and some Famitsu survey results

Revered game designer Shinji Mikami who is best known for his work on the celebrated Resident Evil series was asked some pretty tough questions by Famitsu recently, and among those was which console he wanted to support given the choice.

Mikami held nothing back and said "from the stance of a game maker, if you're looking for visual expression and reality, it's Xbox 360. Otherwise, Wii."

Incidentally, more than 1,500 gamers, developers and celebrities were asked the very same question by the publication. The pulse of the people say it's the Nintendo Wii with the slimmest of margins at 38.9 percent. The Sony PlayStation 3 is at a very close second with a flat 38 percent while the Microsoft Xbox 360 is at third place with 23.1 percent.

Mikami is widely credited for bringing the survival horror genre to prominence with his work on the RE franchise, and was once again praised for reinventing the series with his stint as the director for the blockbuster Resident Evil 4. He is now working at Seeds studios after the dissolution of his old team Clover.

Wow a developer actually thinks 360 is better? And the main Resident Evil developer? This isn't good at all. I was hoping for the PS3 RE5 to be the best but hearing this, I dont think its gonna happen. What dissapointing news. I wonder how much MS has paid him to say stuff like this. :) Its the only logical answer for why he's said these strange comments.

Xman its a poll not sales read before you react, and once again another developer chooses 360 sony is the only company saying ps3 is better well duh they made the system its news like this that makes me smile inside and out anyway looking foward to devil may cry 4, resident evil 5 and other amazing games coming from capcom to the 360.

Never post any news articles regarding to Halo 3 from now on, period. I f+cking care nothing about garbage like Crapalo 3 or Halo 2.5 or Halo 2 Episode 1. This is a flat fact that there’re 200 games or so which are better than Halo 3 in terms of graphics, sound, music, gameplay, multiplay, single-play, and replay value (longevity).

* World of StarCraft (WoS – MMORPG genre): go to google.com -> click ‘images’ button to do image searching -> type ‘World of StarCraft’ -> you can see 2 exclusive pictures. Back in early 2006, Blizzard gave an exclusive interview about WoS and these 2 in-game pictures of WoS to GameSpot. About 1 week later, Blizzard requested GameSpot to remove all information on WoS because WoS was in very early and immature stages.

* Call of Duty 5: Infinity Ward makes CoD 2 and 4; Infinity Ward has been making CoD 4 since Dec. 2005. Treyarch makes CoD 3 and 5; Treyarch has been making CoD 5 since Jan. 2007. CoD 2, 3, 4, and 5 games’ publisher is Activision (Activision decided which version will be made by which developer).

* Jak & Dexter Next-Gen: Naughty Dog is currently making Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Jak & Dexter at the same time.

I couldn't care less what's the opinion of a man who very nearly destroyed one of my favorite survival-horror series by making it exclusive to the Gamecube. And wasn't he involved in that Clover fiasco? And what about that a**-wiggling 3rd-person shooter for the GC? That was his brainchild wasn't it? Indeed, that whole "Capcom 5" was his idea...

Yeah, his opinion really matters. AND he breaks his word... he vowed to commit seppuku after RE4 was ported to PS2, yet he's still alive an' kickin, head clearly attached to his shoulders...

I dont see why people like the game so much when there are better FPS's out there besides Halo. I played Halo 1 on my PC and Halo 2 on the X360 at my college that I attend. The only reason that I play the second one was because that was the only multiplayer game that they had at the school. I played a little into the story mode and nothing facinated me.

I could care less which system he likes. I am much more interested in the fact that 38% of those asked the question said PS3. What was the percentage for the 360 again?
