Wii 2 on its way? - Image 1IndustryGamers recently caught up with Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto in NYC, where the gaming exec shared his thoughts on high definition gaming. While he said nothing that would point us to a Wii HD, we now have more reason to believe that Nintendo isn't gonna sit on its motion-control laurels and leave the graphics as they are.

Miyamoto himself has confirmed - "Nintendo's games move along in step with the progression of technology."

Back in June, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata noted that he found no significant reason to make an HD-capable Wii. Later that month, Wedbush Morgan noted that such a console could damage the PS3 comeback.

This won't be first time that Miyamoto comment on progressing technology. In November of 2008, he used the phrase, "evolving technology" but the context is pretty much the same as it is almost a year later.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with pretty graphics, and if I'm a consumer that has an HDTV, I'd want to be able to play my games with nice graphics too," he told IndustryGamers yesterday. "And I think as we've seen the penetration rates for HDTV increase, we're going to see video games and Nintendo's games move along in step with the progression of technology."

HD TVs weren't as common today as when the Wii was launched, so there's definitely more reason for Nintendo to go with that flow. For now, it's still not clear if a Wii HD is on its way.

» next nintendo to offer cutting edge technology

» He's full of crap

HDTVs were common enough during last-gen to warrant supporting as evidenced by the almighty original XBOX.

This is just Nintendo's BS knuckle-dragging like they did when they claimed gamers don't want online, and with the cartridge/CD issue.

Gotta love Nintendo, always one step..... behind.

When they introduce HD, the competition will aready moved to another system.

But I guess they will be successful again. They will introduce another "cool" gimmick that will be hyped in every media, because it's so "new" and "different".

Nintendo will never have a technologically advanced console.

Why? Their profits depend on selling obsolete technology for the same price as competitors' advanced technology.

The DSi is the same price as the much more advanced PSP.

The Wii is the same price as the XBOX 360 arcade.

Recycled last gen quality wii games sell for $50 when much better games for other systems reduce to $20-30.

If nintendo sold game hardware at an initial loss like the real game companies, they could not survive because there isn't enough decent games.

» Gamecube was advanced in graphics.

What about that?

Gamecube had graphics as good as the original xbox last gen and went down in price badly, which is why Wii still has GC graphics but better. A little better.

Actually N64 had better graphics than PS1, even though it still used cartridges. GC had better graphics than PS2 and even had the far surperior mini dvds.

Actually Im joking about the mini DVDs.
