It's possible but still too early to tell. Really the PS3 hasn't really yet challenged the 360. The 360 has only had a $50 price cut in 2 years where as the PS3 has seen a $200 price cut in 1 year. If the PS3 starts taking the lead in monthly sales, MS can easily afford to begin a new wave of price cutting. With Sony losing a fortune of each unit, will they be able to keep up?

The truth is that the Wii already lost its phenomenal momentum which would happen eventually...the 360 also lost its monentum a while back ago, although steady with slight and very temporary increases in sales due to large titles (largest if you like) like halo 3 (which is funny considering it is outperformed by COD4 a multi-plat game..). Anyhow, think that mass effect will save the day for MS. If all goes well in the sony camp, which it does recently, considering sales, games and developer acceptance and future plans for the ps3 (eg. this article), then sony will surely surpass MS by Q2 2008... Titles like GT5, KZ2, MGS4, FFXIII are definitly killers of any kind of competition. Sony is right on focusing everything based on the future, thats very wise to think of the future. Based on the abilities of the two rival systems (wii sorry...) the winner in the near future is hands down the ps3 (those who deny this are just blind fanboys ). Already, large game developers like Epic, chose the ps3 over the 360 to showcase their mega titles like UT3 and nearly every developer agrees that the ps3 will surpass the 360 very soon. The 360 is out for 2 years and sold what 12, 13 million consoles? (with no competition for one year ) Think for a moment that the ps3 with its high price and all that bad press and general bad reception managed to sell nearly 6 million if not more in a year, now that the really big titles are coming and the price is very close to the sweet spot along with the developers change of mind and the better general preception , i think the year 2008 will be re-named to PS3 2008. The sure think is that we will not see another PS2 like dominance, the 360 will be close behind all the way. All they need to do is to keep producing titles like Mass effect!

Sorry man but we all know you are a ps3 fanboy so your opinions are very very biased and everyone was saying the ps3 would of already surpased the 360 by now. Sure it has some good games coming but you failed to talk about the 360 exclusives games that are coming out which is typical of a sony fanboy. There are many sites which compair all of the exclusives and the sony is very far behind the Wii and 360. I do agree with some of your points but the 360 is not slowing down anytime soon and the people who have a 360 have been enjoying great games for 2 years now while the ones with a ps3 have just been enjoying the hope and hype with a few good games. It's unfair to list games that are not out yet as system sellers because you all did the same thing with lair and look where it got you. Wait till the games come out and then you can have your day if they do well but until then i'll be enjoying great games NOW and you all can keep posting on forums and sony sites like qj in the meantime.

Lots of crap in your post. Firstly, the Wii has not lost "its phenomenal momentum". Nintendo are producing 1.8 million units per month and are selling every single one of them. That means they could replicate a full year of PS3 sales every 3 months. And Nintendo make money on there hardware, while Sony are losing billions on theirs. The 360 hardware sales have also gain momentum in all regions over the past few months. It has out sold the PS3 by atleast 2:1 the last four months, and out sold the PS3 by 5:1 the month of the Halo 3 launch. The PS3 sales are well behind the 360's in America at the same stage in the life cycle. MS poor performance in Japan is the only thing that levels them out as equal globally. Big titles are definitely going to help Sony. But 80% of the PS2 install base bought it for EA sport titles and games like Spiderman. If the 360 continues to have a good price advantage on the PS3 then it's always going to sell more units to those gamers that wouldn't have a clue about GT5, KZ2, MGS4 of FFXII. Although those titles are big sellers, the GT, MGS and FF franchises are only owned by as little as 15% of the PS2 install base.

PS2 install base is how much again.. 110 million ? 15% of that is enough to surpass the Xbox360 in sales. Who cares about the sales in america ? globally both systems are selling the same amount of consoles, give or take a few thousands. Xbox360 sold only 5.9 million units in its first year after its release. Both Xbox360 and PS3 had crap games in its first year (give or take a few gems (gears of war, ratchet and clank)), both sold around the same number of units. so what are you all whining about ? Both systems are doing the same. We'll just have to see what the PS3 does in its second year, will it rival the xbox360's performences ? Will it do better or will it do worse ? Who knows...

The thing is that sony already have good titles but not to say.. wow.... xbox360 had a good seller title since the beginning called gear of war... and a hype game named halo 3 that to me, I like more GOW but oh well, in fact I didn't like halo 3, only the multiplayer is good and isn't that good. Sony have few exclusive titles for holidays too, like uncharted, haze, Unreal tournament etc. So the thing that sony doesn't have games is just a stupid comment. But anybody need to see too that 2008 is the year of PS3, the big titles are coming in and if you say that title are stupids is just because you are just fanboys. About the wii thing, I don't like the wii, but saying that wii lost momentum it's just stupid too but people with wii are complaining that they justhave nario galaxy and zelda that the finish it so many time and it's like a port of the gamecube and after e3 they only have the wii fit but guess what? they still selling more that any console because maybe they don't sell games like halo buy they are focus on another market. And yes, the 360 was selling alone but many people was waiting for another option too and in that year they was just waiting what the other console had to offer. Anyway this is just my point of view of a man who enjoy the best of both worlds that enjoy more the ps3 for be more multimedia and the 360 for in game message and archievements to add more value to a game... While I agree that it is still too early to tell, to say that the Wii has lost it's momentum is silly. DVDevise is right considering Nintendo is producing 1.8 million SELLING consoles. This dude is also right considering that only a minority of PS2 owners actually have all the FF, MGS, and GT games. Majority of the owners just had it because it was the console that had the most games, biggest market share, and media attention. Another thing is, given the lackluster sales of the XB360 in it's first year isn't just because of lack of "games". We have to consider that it was the first nex-gen machine to jump out into the market, as well as it's high price. While it didn't manage to grab the entire next-gen market due to lack of competition, this slip didn't kill the XB. While Sony on the other hand is also having lackluster sales, but doesn't have the buffer considering there two other consoles to compete with. Again I would like to say that it is too early to tell, but trying to compare XBOX, Wii, and PS3 machines with their initial sales numbers isn't enough to pick a winner.

While I disagree with some of your comments, I commend you for giving them without "hating" on the consoles. WilmHeath is right, we need to wait until our games "come out" before we can have our day. To say that one console is better than the other because of future games is pretty lame. Also, only a certain population of gamers are complaining about the Wii considering it's library. This doesn't speak for the entire market. I myself own about 15 games, only 5 of them are 1st party titles. I actually picked up Zack and Wiki last night, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by the way!!! Let's not forget that Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and Wii fit are hitting the Wii early next year, those are 3 big titles and that isn't including 3rd party titles.

How people say that 2008 is the year of the PS3....but what is comming in 2008 that 360 doesn't have ? MGS and FF and GT.....but then 360 also has a square exclusive, a mistwalkers exclusive, fable 2 and potentially MGS as well (I don't care if you think it's rumour, Konami wants money and is just waiting to release it on PS3 before they mention the 360 version) Then there are many awesome multi-platform releases....but those tend to be better on 360 anyways... So I don't see any bombshells being dropped by Sony....the price cut helped, as it always will....but like someone said, if MS feels threatened, they can drop the price WAAAAAY more then Sony.....MS is MAKING money now on the 360.....if they wanted to lose as much money on their consoles as sony, they would be charging $50 for 360....$50 360's would wipe up and MS has ALOT more room to lose money as a corporation then sony does.... Anyways, it's not about sales....sales mean crap....Mcdonalds sells a ridiculous amount of food, doesn't mean it's good....and whether you like it or not, anyone knows that the general quality of games...exclusive or multi-platform are better on the 360....it's not fanboyism, it's fact.....you may not like the colour blue, but that doesn't change the fact the sky is blue....

Just stop Sony hasn't nearly lost as much as MS. Sony lost 600-799 million this year MS 6 billion in six years, not including the 2 billion from the failure rate of the system in June and July. Besides the Fact Sony sold some some of there shares to gain the money back from what they lost, and the fact Sony is so diverse with there whole electronic division and such that lost didn't effect them as everyone is making it out to be.

First don't compare mcdonalds to 360 it makes you look stupid. Second. While yes the multi games due tend to be better non the 360 thats not to say the PS3 is trash. Graphically they are both the same just slightly different lightning. You obviously forgot GTA4 DMC4 oh wait they are multi....so what. For all we know those 2 games could sell faster and more on the PS3 than 360. wow you just listed 3 games and think thats all they have, Killzone 2 should be added, Resistance fall of man 2 supposedly to be release similar to Killzone. and many others we have yet to hear about. Hell the Agency could come out in 08. And to get away from games just a second Home yes home will be killer. You may not like it and called it whatever, but please note its not SL and definitely not Sims, Sims +SL more than home and those. And many other things they have yet to release so lets all wait and see before we jump the PS3 bashing party.

Disc size??

Just wondering, why does no-one take into account the fact that the 360 can only read 9Gb discs, yet the PS3 with built in Blu-ray can read 50Gb discs? This would surely lead to the ultimate win by sony, due to the fact that games could never be as large on the 360 as they can on the PS3, without sacrificing quality? Take Halo 3 for example, that game takes just hours to complete, without it's multiplayer options, it'd be basically nothing. Not everyone who uses next-gen consoles wants to play on-line against others, you can use a pc for that! I personally think that although at the moment the 360 is the 'one to beat', the reign held by M$ will last another 6-12 months tops, then the PS3 will shine through!
