Chocobo's back, and in a big way with his latest adventure on the Nintendo Wii, Chocobo's Dungeon: Labyrinth of Forgotten Time. And to get us more intimately acquainted with the cute yellow bird and his stalwart companions is this scan update from Famitsu, which is more about the Chocobo's requisite White Mage companion than anything else.

Of course, this presents a conundrum: is this White Mage still Shiroma, or has Square given the Chocobo a new pal to play with?

The scans are all in Japanese, so we really can't verify if the White Mage is in fact Shiroma, who helps you in Chocobo's Dungeon 2 for the PlayStation One. Add to that, yours truly can't figure out the White Mage's gender either, having been a victim of Final Fantasy IX's Kuja. Both of them do seem to have the same eye and hair color, though, so here's hoping that it is in fact Shiroma, which means we get to romp through dungeons with her one more time.

Mysterious White Mage aside, the graphics are really looking great with Chocobo's Dungeon: Labyrinth of Forgotten Time. The menus are lovingly old-school, the visual style cute, the colors vibrant, and gameplay looks to be filled with nothing but improvements this time around. The job-changing system itself is a great addition - here's hoping, though, that you still get to take companions on your dungeon romps.

.

Seeing as how it looks almost exactly like next-gen version of the old Shiroma, I'm betting it is. This game can't come out soon enough.
