Rumor: Project H.A.M.M.E.R. cancelled |
Ó
The upcoming Nintendo Wii game Project H.A.M.M.E.R. is one of the platform's most anticipated titles for 2007, but rumor has it that the development of the title may have been discreetly unplugged by Nintendo.According to IGN's sources who are allegedly close to NST, the efforts to develop Project H.A.M.M.E.R. were terminated because of Nintendo's decision to move key members of the team to higher-priority game development tasks on titles that will cater more to the casual crowd.
It can be recalled that the game was sighted last in the 2006 E3 show. After which, little else was ever released to update us on the progress of the game.
In the interactive presentation of this title in E3, players took control of a hammer-swinging cyborg that flattened everything in its path. This was done by moving the Wiimote up and down to wreck all who dared to oppose.
We would like to remind everyone that all of this is still in the rumor stage and official word from Nintendo is yet to be received. We'll update you on this matter as soon as possible.

I highly doubt this is true. I dont trust IGN with anything. If it was anybody else then it would probably be true, but IGN is as reliable as a sandwich.
Yea IGN is definitely trying to stir up some stuff with this statement. They're just trying to play on peoples fears that Nintendo might try to abandon the core gamer. It's total bs.
this is the 4th site ive seen this rumer posted. and im still amazed at people treating as fact. ITS A RUMOR! if the game does get cancled, it might be cuase the end result was crap. who knows.
or may be nintendo thought it was tomutch like Microsofts Crackdown and decided to close this project for good.

ITS NOTHING LIKE IT YOU NOOB!
NST aka Nintendo Software Technologies, is the USA branch of game developers. So, Mario and other franchise games have all these Japanese names scrolling by in the ending credits and games like MPH were produced by this company. Really respectable games.. To name my favorite, Mario VS DK 2 March of the Minis was the game NST was working on just prior to project Hammer. So, I had high expectations for this game. I really enjoyed the level sharing aspect of mvsdk2. I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes to fiddle with a level editor cause the limit is as far as you can stretch your imagination... Anyways, I hope the people who leave this Project Hammer project if rumor is true, will work on another huge level editor included game.. Who knows... Maybe the people who developed for the level sharing features are going over to Mario Galaxy to add a level sharing feature... I would definitely forgive them for canceling PH if this was the case!!! ALL SPECULATION OF COARSE
