Rumor: Final Fantasy IV: The After coming to XBLA - Image 1 More good news for Squeenix fans.

A discovery made on Japan's Xbox site suggests that Final Fantasy IV: The After, the direct sequel to the adventures of Cecil and the rest of the gang of FFIV, will come to the Xbox Live Arcade.

Ok, it's a rather slim piece of evidence, but you know what, I'll take any piece of evidence I can get.

According to 1UP, this link appends the line "details.page/", but if you switch "finalfantasy4/" with "finalfantasy5/" the "details" string doesn't show up. This suggests that they registered the page to ready for a release of the game. This is supported by what Squeenix said before:

Beginning with [Yosumin] and [Crystal Defenders], Square Enix plans to release a steady stream of its popular titles -- as well as original content -- on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

I'm also posting this on the PlayStation 3 and Wii blogs because there's a chance it might end up there as well, since Crystal Defenders will be released on all three platforms.

The After
is a mobile game split into 12 chapters, released only in Japan. The protagonist is Ceodore, the son of Cecil and Rosa. The game is written and directed by FF4's original creator, Takashi Tokita.

PSN!

I hope this makes its way to PSN. It'd be pretty cruel of Squeenix to leave Sony out of this one.

...

seems like it's Squeenix new hobby to suck on Micro$ofts *****. What about their statements? Didn't they say the exclusive title war is over? Then why is Star Ocean still exclusive? Why is there still no PS3 version of Last Remnant in sight? Why will this mostly likely exclusive to Xbox Live? Square Enix is pissing me off so much at the moment. All the lies, all the contradictory statements... I totally lost respect for them. They were good when Psone was still the king, but that was long ago....

Thats Because.....

Square is just going to the console most likely to earn them the best profits (360). I'm sure that they'll share the love with PS once it starts selling more units.

Well, I say Bullsh*t. If money is what they are after, they should just make it multiplatform, 18million more potential sales? Also a little remark towards QJ: Why does this get posted in the PS3 section, trying to fuel the flames of war, are we ? If you post this in the PS3 section, atleast change the article and the title and not focus on the the Xbox part the entire article long and paste a little disclaimer about it being a rumor so you'll just post it everywhere... I don't see the article about Killzone2 being praised by the UK XBox magazine over in the Xbox section, what gives ?

Hm

I dislike flame wars. I post articles with the assumption that readers won\'t be immature about the subject and become fanboy fanatics, though I am often disappointed. I post articles where they are relevant. The 360 review was not relevant to the 360 because the game being reviewed was a PS3 game. I posted this article in the PS3 because: \"I\'m also posting this on the PlayStation 3 and Wii blogs because there\'s a chance it might end up there as well.\" The rumor tag was not meant as a disclaimer. This is a rumor. Plain and simple. The rumor directly implied an Xbox 360 release, not a PS3 or Wii release, hence the 360 mention in the title and not any other console.

More good news?

Uh, it's good news if it comes to PSN as well, otherwise it's bull*****. I mean, I don't really mind if they release I through VI because they've already done GBA,PS1,SNES games for all of them, however, if Square Enix doesn't realize that VII,VIII,IX and X are GEMS and should not be touched ever again they're retarded. Either way a sequel would be appreciated, I loved IV, Kain was the man. I want games like Grandia, Vagrant Story, etc(collector's items that go for 100+ dollars) on PSN, just because I don't have that type of money to throw down on PS1 games...I remember before Lenneth seeing Valkyrie Profile going off for 1 grand on ebay. Then again, it could just be faulty web design coding, or even something regional where it will only come to XBLA in Japan or something... *Looks at Page title* Or it could just be a rumor...

yup

second that...

this is even less than a rumor...

It's... well, nothing. Still, it would be really great. I'd buy it on the PSN for the same controller I played FF4 on (I have both consoles anyway), and because I never know what is a microsoft point, I prefer paying in real hard cash. Cecil was cooler in dark knight, I hope it's a prequel if they do something about the game.

This is what I'm talking about...

Square needs to start making more and more dlc for us gamers that don't want to buy every system and every handheld. Sold my PSP and the remakes on the DS start adding up. Money doesn't grow on trees and I don't live with my parents. Real men have bills to pay and a download is a lot cheaper than DS card or PSP disc. Thank's SquareEnix, I've been waiting for this sequel for a long time and I'll be downloading this on day 1. -V
