Zombies on a plane? Naw. Samuel L. Jackson is busy. Zombies in a casino hotel, however? Maybe. That's if this supposedly leaked trailer for (the supposedly multiplatform) Dead Rising 2 is any indication. Heck, let's throw in rolling hamster balls and Frank West in his Megaman suit too, while we're at it.

Right off the bat, we'll have to stick the rumor label here since the sequel has never been confirmed by Capcom. Though last week, series creator Keiji Inafune spoke of a Dead Rising sequel - he even went so far as to say that they're trying to get it multiplatform. A Capcom rep from the UK however mentioned that Inafune's quote must have been mistranslated.

Now some people suspect that this trailer was deliberately leaked by Capcom as viral marketing. Perfectly reasonable. There's also, of course, the other side of the coin, calling this out as fake. What's you're two cents?

..if it is a fake it's pretty well done and actually makes me wanna buy whatever the hell it is they're teasing me with.

That's fake. You can tell, there are no graphical improvements and it all looks like it's from the mall. It's definitely fake.

Did you even watch the whole video? They only showed scenes of the mall as a back story. If you got passed 35 secs you would've noticed that it is going to take place in hotels and casinos. As for graphics, there isn't always a big jump between sequels.

» My vote: All real -- All viral

In my opinion, this is as real (and as viral a marketing ploy) as that "leaked" Star Wars Battlefront III video last month. ...Expect in a few days a formal 'pseudo announcement' (just like what happened with Battlefront).

» Samuel L. Jackson is busy.

Thank God, every game/movie he was involved with was worse because of him.

» Mmhmm

True that. Strangely though, he's one of the highest grossing actors in Hollywood.

Aw, and c'mon. He was pretty cool in Pulp Fiction. But other than that... well, I tend to shy away from his movies too. LOL

» Looks convincing

Off the bat you see how it's being "filmed" by someone.

You can tell that the sound was direct audio in, not a camera picking up sound with the mic.

So it's meant to look like this. Wouldn't really surprise me if it's real. And I hope it is. First one (despite save issues) was awesome.

it all looks like it could be legit...

graphics can't really be judged based on a teaser like this, let alone a youtube upload of a cell phone video...

if it's real... i need to stock up on some of that zombrex.

if it's fake... congrats to the maker, maybe the buzz would help push capcom in the right direction.

» Exactly

Plus they obviously showed the main character running around inside some kind of death ball crushing zombies, and zombies shambling around a casino. I don't see how anyone could fake that

I expect this at E3, maybe even official word before then

» I dunno

It looks like actual Dead Rising footage, I mean graphics-wise.. I think this is a deliberate video meant to go viral. It certainly seems like it to me.. that's why there isn't no actual Dead Rising logo in it (unless I missed it, only looked at the "trailer" once), but hey, if it's real it looks good

» Looks legit to me...

The hamster ball is definately something they would put in a game....

To people saying the graphics don't look any better....wow, you can tell that from a crappy video taken off a tv with a camcorder, than put on youtube ? Not to mention all the static and quick camera cuts within the video?.....sure...

Are you out of your minds?

Samuel L. Jackson is one of the coolest actors in Hollywood.

Afro Samurai.... Do I have to say more?

Who cares? The original graphics were great to me!

With a Vengeance

Actually now that I think of it, that was my least favourite of the series. Though not far behind Live Free.

But anyway, San Andreas was awesome.

» Definately real.

The casino parts are pretty much proof.

Now this leads to some speculation. Does this game solely take place in a casino/hotel? That is a drastic change from the shopping mall (Dawn of the Dead) setting from the first game. The main idea was that you could go to different stores and use pretty much anything as a weapon. Where's the variety in a casino/hotel? Velvet ropes? Throw-pillows?

I'm half expecting a city or small town in this one...

» Man

I'm so excited I feel like commenting this every day until I see a confirmation or debunk article.. Dead Rising is my favorite game this generation. It's single player, not too long (in fact, very short), has a TON of replay value.. That's something too many games this generation don't have! All they focus on is the online multiplayer, with a couple hidden items to find in campaign. Dead Rising has the multiple endings, the survivors to rescue, clothes and weapons to unlock, the leveling system.. ahhh

I'm probably the biggest fanatic of Dead Rising ever. I bought a 360 solely for this game.. I won't lie, I knew I was going to mod the 360 before I got it because of the high price tags, the numerous required accessories (they even stopped making wired controllers to force you to buy batteries or a charge pack!).. Dead Rising is a game I bought and I will buy this sequel. It DESERVES my money.

Man.. I love Dead Risingg.. The sequel better not disappoint!

» Let's see

I'm thinking Vegas strip. That would be awesome.

by Specht - 2009-02-08 05:15
» I love the game and all...

But I find the whole guiding the survivors to the safehouse thing a turn-off. And then to unlock different modes you had to rescue a certain amount of people. I love going around killing zombies, and even taking pictures is fun. But the rescuing just drags it down IMO.

But yeah, I'm definately looking forward to the sequel. Hell, even the Wii version!

» True

The AI was completely retarded. But the game is STILL amazing through that!! At least you didn't have to save anyone to progress
