Romance of the Three Kingdoms: details and PS2 screens |
Ó
Nintendo certainly wasn't kidding when they said the best is yet to come for the Wii. To confirm reports that Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI will be a Wii title, too, GameWatch showcased game details, the Wii boxart, and release date (March 21, 2007). There are also screenshots, but they all belong to the PS2 - but we're gonna use them anyway, so that you can get an idea of what the game might look like on a Wii. Or not - the PS2 was built around the DualShock 2, after all.
According to web translation, the Wii Romance will sport a "shooting action mode" using the Wiimote - even more reason for Koei to have released Wii-specific shots. Romance XI also introduces a "new system of internal affair and general rearing." For those familiar to the series, you might understand this to mean that the game has a new government and general training system to grapple with.
Romance is certainly one of the more complex grand strategy series to ever grace the consoles, and it looks like XI will continue the tradition. But the Wiimote's "shooting action mode" might introduce new wrinkles to the traditionally brain-heavy gameplay. No word on whether the game will make it across the ocean, that Westerners, too, may say "All your kingdom are belong to us." Then again, we're still waiting for the PSP Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII to emigrate, too.
Or, for that matter, for the rest of Koei's strategy library to update and emigrate. Most, if not all, of console strategy are belong to Japan, at this rate.
