The Associated Press has a new article up on CNN that exposes some juicy new details related to the upcoming Rock Band 2. For starters, Rock Band 2 is set to be released on all the major console platforms, with the Xbox 360 apparently getting the game before the PS3, the PS2, and the Wii.
Harmonix and MTV Games also mentioned that the 360 version will be rocking store shelves come September, and that's not very far away. As for the content, we'll let the article speak for itself:
The second edition will feature a playlist of over 80 songs - all master recordings - which will include more female-fronted bands and artists who have never contributed tunes to a music game.
Combine that with the announced reverse compatibility for Rock Band songs and downloaded tracks, and you have a veritable smorgasbord of music right there on your console. Even better still, it was also reported in this article that more information, including the game's tracklist, would be revealed at E3.
It certainly makes us excited at the prospect of singing (and playing) to some new tunes. Here's to hoping part of the GTA 4 soundtrack gets into the mix as well - a little crossover like that would certainly be cool. Keep checking QJ for more updates as they become available.

I'd say its gonna be as cool as DDR when you can make your own steps... and that's not very cool. I think both will be fun, but Rockband will be ahead, whereas people will just be thinking "Why is this still called Guitar Hero now that I can play drums?"

I know that they came up with the Guitar Hero concept. And for that, I thank them. But GH:III completely blows the doors off of GH:II.
