RiotOver at the official site of start-up developer Riot Games, they have a press release that announces the completion of its first round of independent equity funding, totalling $1.5 million. You're probably going, "what in the hell does this mean, and how does this affect me as a gamer?"

Don't worry, a lot of folks who aren't familiar with business jargon probably are too... Anyway, this roughly means, that Riot is announcing the outside world that money-wise they're stable enough, and if you're an investor, you don't need to worry that much.

The announcement goes on say that they plan to announce a title they will release some time early 2007. Apparently they're "working on a cutting-edge game platform and a title that combines the best elements of the action role-playing and real-time strategy genres into a uniquely fun and competitive multiplayer experience."

Well the riot team better deliver, especially since they boast that their core team is comprised of folks with backgrounds from companies like Electronic Arts, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, Atari, Konami, Activision, Midway, and an assortment of development studios.
