Revolution to be called Nintendo Go?

Engadget has posted this image supposedly leaked from some sort of Japanese showcase of Nintendo's new console. It's not clear yet whether this belongs to the other Revolution mock-up screens or is a genuine picture. Here's hoping that the forthcoming keynote speech of Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata at GDC will clear this up once and for all.

(Thanks Liam Daly)

remember when N64 was ultra 64.. that was a bit different but revolution sounds way cooler than nintendo go.... ofcourse i wouldnt put it past nintendo to do something this monumentally stupid.. hey lets use min-dvd for the gamecube so that our games can be half the size of the competition.

Very conveniently-placed text and awful grammar looks like an obvious fake to me.

# Nintendo "Gaming Online"Guest 2006-03-23 08:06
..or "Games Online", for the Virtual Console Games Download service. I bet that the DS will be able to play some of these games as well. The japanese text in the screenshot contains fragments like "the brand (reflects)," "contains system-level," and "-technology in latest info." I think this does kind of point to both the system and the online service. I do not believe this to be the Revolution's final name, but all we have to do is wait.

Also, the Anon at 10:30 on the 23rd needs to shut up. If you can't even get past the keyboard barrier and learn to type, then you shouldn't be tackling these kinds of things. Start with something like "Green Eggs and Ham".

The image size is reduced, thats why it looks crappy, just open the real image and you'll see.

But I agree, revolution is much better.

I don`t like nintendo for their stupid moves in the past, that is way they loose the crown to sony and second place to xbox. if they want to survive in the next war console at list put a cool name or keep the revolution name. and they need to buy some stock market from big name game makers like capcon,konami,r ockstart and EA.

What stupid moves have they made in the past?

Vanden9 from the forums compiled an excellent list of Gamecube-exclusive games that everyone should own.

* Animal Crossing

* Donkey Kong Jungle Beat

* F-Zero GX

* Geist

* Luigi's Mansion

* Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

* Mario Party series

* Metroid Prime

* Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

* Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

* Pikmin

* Pikmin 2

* Super Mario Sunshine

* Super Smash Bros. Melee

* The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures

* The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest

* The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

* The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2006)

* Wave Race: Blue Storm

* Re4

* viewtiful joe

* viewtiful joe 2

If you owned a Gamecube, I don't think you'd be saying that. :) Taking your friends to school at Pikmin 2 is priceless.

And sadly, if Nintendo could purchase the New York Stock Exchange, they'd have nothing to fear.

I hope you realize that Capcom, Konami, and EA have made a lot of games for Nintendo systems. A number of Konami projects were Nintendo exclusive.

Rockstar has released a few games for Nintendo systems... however, you are right, it might be a good move for Nintendo to try to work on some projects with Rockstar. Although I don't think that there will be any GTA on Revolution any time soon.

And back on topic. :)

The name "Nintendo GO" sounds pretty lame... Also, that picture provides no proof whatsoever of anything.

I don't see what the big deal is anyways. It's just the name of the game system. It'll have the same games anyway. Think about it... if Nintendo released a game system titled "Flaming Horse Crap," MORE people would probably buy it than if it was called Revolution.

# this is for makarmanDIEGO 2006-03-24 05:42
Makarman you have a small list not counting the same brand name you repeat like zelda 1,2,3,4 and so so. I had before a gamecube I get it only for resident evil 4 but after that was useless. why because went I go to gamestop or ebgames the have 26-48 games for gamecube and for xbox 94-124 and ps2 156-216. that why nintendo need more games on their system and not the same game over and over again. they need fresh new games, that why I say they need to start buying small or big game makers like microsoft is doing right now. and the controller idea I hope it will work nintendo for their own good.
