Game-to-movie adaptations, while great on paper, unfortunately doesn't carry as well as they should in practice. Sure, there are a few gems here and there, but more often than not they fall short of gamers' expectations. "Resident Evil: Extinction", the third in a series of films about the legendary zombie shoot-em-up franchise, seems to have broken the string of so-so adaptations, having topped the  box office charts at US$ 24 million in its first week of its opening.

And while the film itself is being marketed as the final movie in the trilogy, Sony says that there might be more Resident Evil movies in the pipeline, in light of the warm response "Extinction" got. Rory Bruer, Sony's head of distribution, has this to say about the future of the Resident Evil movies:

It absolutely would not surprise me considering the success of the franchise that they find a way to come up with another. It's a real possibility.

Certainly very good news for us who want to see the rich storylines of our favorite games put into film. Now, Sony, how about that Metal Gear Solid movie...?

had no true line from Apocalypse, missing characters.. anyway.. to keep off spoilers. It's not that good. It's not terrible. It's fun, but only to watch once. :)
