Resident Evil 5 Wii edition petition: 11,606 signatures and counting |
With all the petition malarkey surrounding Resident Evil and having it ported to the PlayStation Portable (as well as Capcom responding to aforementioned petition), it's not hard to see why another online signature drive has popped up. This time it's for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360-exclusive Resident Evil 5 to be ported onto the Wii. Turnabout is fair play when high-grade titles like Resident Evil is concerned, it seems. The petition's opening statement, presented as is:
Dear Capcom,
Ever since day 1, the Nintendo Wii has been selling out the second it has entered the store. People camp out hours and days just to get their hands on a Wii. These aren't casual gamers camping out everyday to get their hands on the Wii. These are the hardcore. They live and die playing video games. There will always be memories of Resident Evil in the back of their heads every time they come to play the Wii.
It was a low-blow to all Nintendo fans when it was announced Resident Evil 5 was 360-PS3 exclusive. Why would you do this Capcom? The Wii DOES have a hardcore audience and a big one at that. Profits are made so much easier on the Wii. All Nintendo fans would rejoice at the news of Resident Evil 5 on the Wii.
I am starting this petition today to let you know that we want Resident Evil 5. We DON'T care if the graphics are worse. We will buy the game. It won't be just me; it will be millions of people. So, as a message from all of us Nintendo Wii owners, please consider putting Resident Evil 5 on the Nintendo Wii. I hope that the thousands of signatures of this petition will show you that this game deserves to be on the Wii.
And turnabout indeed - as of this writing, the numbers of signatures have exceeded 11,000 - a thousand or so more than Capcom's stated cut-off point for the previous petition. Certainly a very remarkable effort for Wii owners around the world - but when you realize what's at stake here, it's pretty much a no-brainer that every gamer with Nintendo's own motion-sensing console would sign up. After all, it's Resident Evil 5.

IM sure there are plenty of technical reasons why this wont and CANT come to the Wii. Its just up to capcom to reveal what those issues are.

Of course, I never say never because stranger things have happened. But this just seems unlikely. Wii owners get UC. Is that not good enough? The game is very possible on the other systems with a light gun. Now I like the Wii and am looking forward to various games, but it is a differnt system with different types of games. Even if you do get RE5 for Wii it will be an incredibly watered down version in terms of visuals, sound, effects, lack of HD. While mostly cosmetic they add to the experience, and RE has always been known for incredible visuals. And for you Nintendo fanboys that say graphics don't matter, you sure weren't saying that when RE4 came out on GC.
Although these companies can make revisions to classic gaming, YOU are wasting their time and creativity asking to redo a classic. Enjoy!!!!!
I don't get why these fan boys would be mad. They already have the game on their system ps3/xbox. Why are they even here? Why should they even care? Trying to prevent games that will widen the console sales gap even more?

We are mad because you Wii gamers can spam your incredible numbers to "bully developers". A wii version of RE5 would require a complete remake. The system just can't make a game that looks better than RE4. The hardcore audience of the Wii is not bigger than the hardcore audience of the PS3/360 combined. I'm sorry Wii fans but this is the direction the Wii is going. Also, another funny thing I read on one of these news sites was that any magazine who didn't like the Wii has gone out of business or is facing going out of business. The Wii is the next Ipod, everyone wants one cause everyone else has it, and if you trash it, you are not cool and your business will suffer. People are only buying mini games. Look at vgcharts.org. They only buy the system and maybe one game. Capcom knows this and won't remake a big budget game to cater to less than 10% of the Wii market. Thats why you are getting UC. A low budget game that takes advantage of the systems only strong point, its controls. I don't care if you agree or disagree but the majority controls what games you get and the majority of Wii players are casual gamers. I would normally support this movement because I am very hardcore but I have given up on the Wii. Sorry.

Although the motion sensor makes the game much more fun than can ever be achievable with an analog stick... no company is going to redo an entire game for an inferior (only in terms of power) console.. putting an inferior game on a superior console is easy because you don't have to change the graphics. As for the petition, so called "Hard-core gamers" shouldn't care if its 360/PS3 exclusive because "Hard core gamers" have more than one console.
Sorry, but everyone see this coming, when big name titles continue to pop-up in the horizon, and they continue to be taken out in more powerful systems like 360 & PS3, the Wii will be left behind, (the new Soulcalibur will be available for both system and the Wii only get a watered down version of a platform of that game).
As I recall, Nintendo says that they want the Wii to be a companion to the other two systems, so, go, buy a PS3 or 360 and you'll have the complete expirience. But don't ask developers to waste money & time making ports, is something companies can afford to lose.
This trend will continue, in a moment when games like Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto & Metal Gear Solid are out or near completition, games that stress their respective systems, and showing what they can do. Sorry, but you get what you pay for, is the best selling system right, but also is the cheapiest, and $250,00 in components don't buy you the latest in technology. I doubt RE4 wii is the best visual game out yet, why? ps2 has a version. and also the wii are supported by non tech savy consumer so it will remain in the market longer than expected. Although I just dont see RE5 happening, I mean have any of you seen the graphic of RE5 in HD, and dont forget about the number of people on screen at once. While i see like 10 on RE4 wii, I see like 80 or something on RE5, asking to lower down those expectation and graphic, its not likely for capcom to do that, but with the big bunch of wii owner, who knows.
I own a 360 and a Wii, and if I had to choose between a weaker visual version with wiimote function or the 360 carnation. I'm going for the 360 carnation, I got a HDTV so I'd like to see how they push the envelope.

From the trailers, I'm seeing a massive quantity of enemies, all with their own AI. RE5's number of people on screen wasn't possible on the PS2 I'm sure, and I can't see how it's any different on the wii.

Either the game's combat will have to be cut down so the weaker processor can handle it and all three versions will be the same, watered down version, or Capcom will have to divert may programmers and tons of mmoney to completely redoing it for the wii, meaning less workers and money goes into the real versions.
And for pete's sake, graphics aren't the only thing the wii's weaker at; PS3 and 360 have 3.4 ghz processors; the wii doesn't. That means AI, physics, and other aspects of GAMEPLAY aren't possible on it. It's not just a matter of graphics, idiots, hence why HL2 Orange box isn't comming to wii.

First of all you state that your opinion is a "fact". Thats just retarded. The Wii does have some good games. Zelda, Metroid, and SPM. Basicallly the same franchises we've been playing the last 20+ years. Not that it's a bad thing though.

Beyond that the general concencus among gamers for the past year or so has been that the 360 is generally the system to get. With many highly reviewed games and many more to come it might stay there for a while. I don't have one because i'm not really a big shooter guy, but that has been the general concensus demographiclly speaking.
The PS3 is a bit of a mixed bag, but to say that Capcom is making a mistake, boy you are wrong. PS3 sales have picked up dramatically over the past few months since the price drop.
And if you think PS3 owners won't purchase a RE5 game, well you might want to take a look at the NG(another franchise action game) sales figures.
And honestly, it's not fair to say that two systems that have been out for 6+ years have better games. Of course they have better games, they have been out for 6 friking + years.

In the previous generation I recall the GC having the exclusive for RE games, and most RE games have appeared on it, but eventually some have been ported to the PS2 after a year.
RE4 for the GC sold extremely well, and the Wii remake pretty good, considering that it came so late and most fans already played it in one form or another.
Now besides those technical reasons that can be worked around anyway(if they even make it for the PSP )why else would Capcom not port RE5 to the Wii ?

re4 was a game cube port , so u are a retard because the wii can render 2 times the power graphicly than that of the gamecube.re5 remade from the ground up for the wii utilizing the full horse power of the processer and rendered at 16.9 and 480 p it would look awsome and the game play is undeniable fun and accurate,just look at the re4 controls.and make it with online multiplayer and make it utilize the wiizapper periferal.
The wii can't handle HD graphics,but it can handle great definition, all of you who has a hd tv less than 52" won't notice the diference betwen the scren mode of the wii and the xbox; the diference is not hd but the graphic card power. The RE4 graphics were posible in the gc and in ps2, as wii is more powerful (we don't really know how much)it might be able of generating better graphics than in RE4, BUT EVEN if they were like in RE4 That would be really ok.
The wii hasn't shown any game that uses the 100% of its power and also, the problem, the ai, isn't that problem: There are zombies or posesed people or whatever they will be in this game, so the ai will basically be surroinding, group atack, cover... they won't make atack strategies nor even use technologies like comand advance... Even so, you'd be amazed how easy are those AI, the problem with the AI is when they hide or they use envoiroment items calculating the physics, fear, in dricing games covering with other cars and using them to crash you.
RE doesn't have complicated AI, (the bosses have a predeterminated control patern the enemies) enemies will only surround and catch us.
Number of enemies in the RE4 can be esaily 5 or 6... If the number in the wii can reach 9 they can simply make those 9 harder in stead of making 15... It's a pitty but that's the price of the motion sensor
Finally, about the UC, request it for the ps3 a xb360 instead of asking that the re5 doesn't go out on wii. I won't complain, if it goes out on xb360 nor on ps3, i won't even if it's cheaper than the wii version ^_^
Finally the increase of sales in ps3 isn't a big deal, if wii drops the price the selling will increase, wii + wii sports 200$... Cheap ^.^ you can still by a xb360 and a wii by that price.
Developing a RE5 for the wii would be cleverer than the ps3 version. also, they could make special oferts at the relesae of the RE:UC or the RE5 like 10% off buying the two games or Buying the two games you can download RE1 to the VC. That would make lot of people buying both.
That would also make that people who like UC buy RE5 and people who liked UC buying RE5. Or even RE4, like you said, wii has casual gamers, that makes that if they like a game, the next one may be of the same saga, that may be interesting to capcom

As a Nintendo fanboy, I'm offended. The graphics for RE4 were beautiful, but they were hardly what I was waiting for. I mean, hell, I bought yet ANOTHER port of RE2 because I love the game, not because the visuals were stunning. IF it's possible to bring RE5 over to the Wii, *IF*, I'd gladly take the lack of HD effects, I just don't need them.
And frankly, my copy of MP3 sports far better visuals than RE4, don't know about your copy.

Not a big Resident Evil fan but I signed it anyways, don't see any good reason why it shouldn't be for all systems when it comes down to money.
They could make the game only for Xbox and make tons of profit off of it, so I don't see why they wouldn't want even more profit by simply dumbing down the game.

PS3/360 are true next gen consoles. RE:5 is a next gen game, logically speaking, this game only deserves to be on a next gen system. Next gen is described as, something that is pushing the envelope in all directions, in this case the video games. The only direction the wii is pushing is controls, nothing else. PS3 is pushing processing power, medium size (blu ray), and sixaxis (copied from Ninty). Where as the Xbox360 is pushing power under the hood at an affordable price.
