Report: PS3 has oldest gamers, Wii has youngest |

It's time for some useless trivia! Amaze and annoy your friends with knowledge that's only interesting to fanboys!According to a console usage report from Nielsen Media Research, the PS3 has the oldest gamerbase, with the highest usage from the 18-24 age group. Nielsen suspects that this is because:
Gamers who owned one or both of these consoles in their youth may have 'graduated' to the PS3 in their assumed adulthood.
The Xbox 360 attracts a slightly younger base, with more male gamers falling in the 12-17 age group. Which probably explains why their the most rabid fanbase a lot of times. There are more female Xbox gamers who fall in the 25-34 age group though.
The Wii on the other hand, has some curious tastes, attracting young boys and old women. You just can't avoid the dirty jokes with this console. The Wii is popular in boys age 6-11, and women age 25-34.
The Wii is the least used console on average. Xbox 360 male gamers play nearly twice as many days per month than females. Gender usage on the PS3 and Wii are more balanced. Although we knew all of this by instinct before, at least we now have some solid data on it.

well there are some real facts to that,people who owned an xbox,never knew how great the ps2 was so they just bought the upgrade that was the 360 but most of them have a psp :)..and of course the wii is more attractive to boys 6 and up because thats what their parents want them to have as they break stuff easily,but women.................

Since when is 25-34 old? That's what is called young to MIDDLE AGED. So it attracts children and middle aged women. Not old women.
adults have more money to spend on the ps3...
the 360 is more affordable for teens with part time/summer jobs...

I'm currently unemployed and find the PS3 perfectly affordable. Even saving up for the console itself didn't take long. Helped that I had a lot of old junk I could sell on ebay too. And sites with discounted prices and free delivery like Play.com help too.
I don't like XBL because of annoying teens and kids ... i still prefer the PS3 to play online

First off Xbox1 was way better than ps2. This is not speculation, its proven fact. I had both systems so i'm not biased either.. Maybe you should try an xbox before you make such idiotic comments.
Secondly, I don't know a single person that owns a 360 and has a PSP. So that didnt help your argument either..

Most of the 360 owners I know own a PSP.
I certainly don't consider that old.
PS2 was much better than the xbox 1. How is that a proven fact? I have both as well. The ps2 sold better, had a better game selection, and was overall the better console.
That's like this gen only the other way around. But Sony has published good games and M$ can only say that about a couple of games. Better consoles doesn't always win. But this gen isn't over yet who knows maybe who'll win. Don't include the Wii please.

for people who make less than $100 a week a $400 console is quite the investment.

The largest base for 360 is the young teens...makes sense because they are the people that watch all the comercials and fold under peer pressure. I knew it, thats why when i played cod4 on my friends 360 i destroyed a whole team of "gold crosses" by myself and they wouldnt stop swearing at me. Thats the people that start flame wars but can never win because 12,13 yr old kids know as mutch about their 360 as the comercials state, or their friends make them believe. the wii also makes sense becuz women buy wiis believing the excersise games will help them loose weight lmfao

I think Yamagushi was referring to how powerful the hardware was. It was proven by far that xbox was more powerful than PS2....
Gamewise however, it really depended if you like FPS, Sports and Racing games (xbox) or a variety of everything (ps2) with waay more RPG's....
Think of it this way, imagine your computer being 25-34 years old.
