Replays in Smash Bros. Brawl enter Twilight Zone because of bug?

This may be the most disconcerting bug that you may encounter in Nintendo Company Ltd. and Sora Ltd.'s Super Smash Bros. Brawl: someone from another Nintendo-oriented forum, Nsider2, spotted a bug that manages to rewrite history, so to speak. This bug, which was replicated and recorded by YouTube user Warchamp7, involves replay matches turning out different compared to what actually happened in the match.

As it turns out, the characters and the stage stay the same with the exception of the character's moves and (oftentimes) the outcome of the match. There's something of note, however: it seems that this bug only arises when players fight it out in a custom stage, and does not happen in the default stages.

Strange thing, yes? Check it out for yourself in the video below.

Maybe the game saves replays by recording all actions and their durations. Then when replayed those previously recorded button presses are replicated with the exception of jump being reproduced only by the "up" button and not the alternative "x" or "y" options. That would explain why his character climbed the ladder when during the original match, he had jumped. That one offset could throw of all of the subsequent actions and result in the outcome of the entire match being changed.

It was stated that this error only occurs on custom maps, but perhaps with more extensive testing it could be narrowed down to only the maps that have ladders, and only when one attempts to jump while in front of said ladder.

Or maybe I think too much.

Could this video be edited i saw it o youtube earlier today, and though of the wii exploits that have recently occurred and wasn't there a program that let you get your replays out on the computer?

Also I had noticed that he went from watching replay 21 to replay 21 to replay 20?
