Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has thrown down the gauntlet. In the newest GTTV episode, he predicted that New Super Mario Bros. Wii will outsell Modern Warfare 2 on a single platform.

It's not really impossible if we take the single platform stipulation into account, seeing as how Modern Warfare 2 will be released on three platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Still, he added that it'll be a close race and said he believes Modern Warfare 2 is going to be a fantastic title.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Reggie also denied that there will be a Wii HD. "Michael [Pachter] continues to be the only one who believes that this is gonna happen," he said. "I don't know how forcefully we can say that there is no Wii HD."

IDK it could be possible. There are multiple hacks for the Wii both soft mod and chip. The PSP no doubt has a high soft mod ratio. I wouldn't doubt that a lot of people who own more than one console from this gen have there wii soft modded. All of my friends have used the twilight soft mod on there wii. They don't believe the Wii deserves most of there attention as they prefer there HD console of choice.

Considering the amount of non-gamers that bought a Wii, I'd be surprised if the number of hacked Wii's total even 1% of total Wii's sold.

this is a load of crap, MW2 is going to be the biggest entertainment launch of all time. ps3+360+pc will not be beaten by the wii. While there are tons of wiis sold, combined the 3 will sell more mw2's than a wii game, hands down

Doesn't anyone know how big Mario is? I think that the number for Mario is going to be huge. It may sound like the underdog because it's restricted to the Wii, but there are a lot of kids that love that crap. I go for Mario Bro.

Can you comment on how well hardcore games sell on the Wii i.e. Conduit, Dead Space etc.? How about the boat loads of crap Wii shovelware we have to sift through? Do non-Nintendo and non-Fitness games sell on the system?

PC doesn't count in this instance. MW2 is going to be so watered down on the PC side, NO ONE will be buying the game. I guaranteed they'll illegally download and hack it some way in order to get all the things IW screwed the PC gamer community of.

It was gonna happen whether or not they "like it" PC gets funded by our extra 10 dollars on every game. Activision somehow thinks charging PC the same price for MW2 people'd pay, when if the game's like 30 they download and pirate it anyway.

As for this guy's statement, I think its dumb because I don't see droves of wiggers lining up to play Mario, especially since Mario doesn't use Feminem to sell games.

Wii is the easiest console of any to pirate for...but the true question is " Is it worth 20-30 min in downloading this last gen game" ? I still don't see how NSMB will outsell even the PC version of MW2

never really did like the way that guys face looks....Wiis respectable in such, never liked Mario though I personally ignore most Wii anything even though I dont mind having my 120$ electronic door stop (Ive NEVER spent full price or anything at all for a Ninty product) Not againt it but I hope he's wrong.

I work at Gamestop. We have over 500 pre-orders for Modern Warfare 2. We have exactly 7 pre-orders for the New Super Mario Bros. There are 5000 Gamestops in the world.......End of discussion.

With the amount of Wii consoles sold, and the fact that Mario is a household name combined with the fanbase, it just might be competible saleswise. But I don't see as much advertisement for the game going around as much as MW2 and IDK if it supports online multiplayer (not just local) co-op b/c ppl love to play with eachother.

Those that will buy the Wii Mario game are totally all hardcore gamers who preorder all the time! Makes total sense!

Different demographic of buyers, different figures. I would expect most who will buy NSMB will walk into the store sometime after the release date and ask if the game has been released, and then buy it if the store has it.

Plus, preorder figures do not equal a win in a total sales war. Reggie is talking over the course of the the two games' shelf-life. Which I could see Mario coming out on top.

Besides, ALOT of people wont know this game exists with all the Mario titles to confuse general consumers

Those were/are the easiest to pirate for. Not the Wii. The Wii requires a little more "know how" then the average person has.

As for the cart based systems, in case you didn't know, you could get your hands on a special cart that would allow you to plug in a retail cart and download the data to the new cart. Then you play the game from the new cart.

Most people would buy the new cart then rent a game, copy it, return it and play the game until finished. Then simply rent another game and copy that one. Holy crap!!!! Dont get me started on the AWESOME new carts that allowed you to download more then one game...WOW!!!! Those blew peoples minds!!!!

WTF is this crap?

1. We heard from ONE store and this guy thinks that's the end of the story? HA! Laughable at best. That's like asking 2 people on the street if they are gay and when they say yes....OMG! All of the USA is gay!!!!

2. Also, WTF do presales have to do with anything? Presales have gotten out of hand!!! The last 5 games (at least) that I bought all had presales. Everyone proclaimed OMFG you better preorder it or you wont get it. NOT! I bought the game either the day of or the next day. No problem.

3. Presales are for suckers to begin with. Very FEW GAMES require a presale.

4. People who want Mario, will walk in and buy it. Not preorder it.

Hey, it's the internet, whatever you say goes and just about nothing anybody says can prove I'm not him (beyond maybe the site admins showing you the different IP's or something, but even that can be inconclusive).

However, pulling that card out at all is pretty lame. Just because I agree with him and not you in most stuff is no reason to accuse me of that. Plus, if you actually cared to look around, there's plenty of articles I've posted on that ISOHaven hasn't. I'm sure there's plenty he's posted on that I haven't too.

Besides the fact that you two were fighting over who's best before I even created my username at all...... and probably before I even started reading QJ every day.

ISO seems to show more hard numbers that you do, while you only appear to present biased subjective reasons why the Wii is inferior. That's why I agree most often with ISOHaven and not you.

Plus, it helps that I like the Wii, at least in this case.

I buy games if they are $40 or less any more I normally look on craigslist or other sources if its to expensive I download or if the game is single player only I download.
