Reggie Fils-Aime: People love Wii for "simple reasons"

The Ninty Man: Reggie Fils-AimeI think you guys will agree with me that Nintendo really has made a gaming innovation with the Wii. I can go on forever about the waaay interesting games (Rayman Raving Rabbids and Trauma Center: Second Opinion, anyone?) coupled with waaay interesting controls, but I'm guessing you guys already know about that, so I won't delve into those anymore.

Interestingly, our source pointed out that Nintendo, in fact, needed this innovation. Lagging a bit behind their competitors, Nintendo needed something to jazz up the gaming scene, and they sure succeeded in doing it, with the DS and the Wii.

Moreover, their goal to bring gaming to the masses (ergo, the "non-gamers") sure is strengthening their products' appeal. For example, the "Wii mall tours" are making more and more people aware of the Wii's existence, and I'm sure they're loving it as much as we do.

Not only that, they're getting support form the gaming community as well as "publishers are lining up to get on board with Wii". Nintendo of America bigwig Reggie Fils-Aime says:

The level of support we are getting is for very simple reasons. First, the business proposition makes a lot of sense, its easy to develop for, we are going have a large installed base. Second, developers love it. When you have developers saying, "‘I want to create content for your system", that’s a big win. We have the business guys excited and we have the developers excited.

Right on, Mr. Fils-Aime.
