Red Steel 2 swordplay: will utilize Wii MotionPlus accessory |

Red Steel was the first ever third-party Wii game to release screenshots, gathering itself some hype before the game was released. Once it did hit the market though, reviews were mixed. One of the reasons for this was how loosely the sword followed the Wiimote, which led to some difficulty in controls.
However, it seems the franchise is out to redeem itself in the sequel. Red Steel 2 has been confirmed by Ubisoft, and it's going to be utilizing the new Wii MotionPlus accessory, which will lend the Wiimote a more precise motion-tracking scheme. Says Ubisoft's executive director Alain Corre:
Red Steel 2 has been in development for many months now, and this new device will help us be even more precise in what we do with the product.
So Red Steel is a brand, and as with every brand we have, we now have to reach the top quality possible. What was missing was the preciseness of the sabre - and with this new device I think it will change the experience.
No word on whether it will have online features, but the Official Nintendo UK mag has already confirmed this... a year ago. Don't know if Ubisoft's decided to change this, but it would be a shame if they do.

I'm looking into this game, the bullet time was also a nice power, I sure hope you get some extra that could translate in multiplayer.

Even though I have a formidable collection of video games waiting to be played, I did find the time to go back and finish RS twice.
The sword play was awkward yes, but once I learned that it was about timing and not so much about 1:1 movement, I did become very good, and I actually enjoyed it.
I'm looking forward to a sequel with improved graphics and controls, and an online experience.
I really like this kind of game and I hope that with the Wii motion plus they will really nail the controls down this time around !

The story and cut scenes felt tacked on to a flimsy system. I hated it so much I took it back and complained to the guy who convinced me to buy it. Considering how I wasn't at all interested in the game before he hyped it up to me, he gave me a full refund.
I couldn't care less if the squeal boasted full holographic immersion.
