Dojo of Pain.. closing down with a hint at Red Steel 2?

As the official Red Steel fansite Dojo of Pain is ready to throw its last shuriken (they're closing down today), a mysterious message was posted by Sensei himself. This "good-bye" post sparked online forums and sites abuzz with speculation that a Red Steel 2 is clearly underway. Check out Sensei's post:

But if any student think he anywhere near ready for Red Steel 2... Get Ready to Do My Laundry!

-Sensei

Old man Sensei couldn't be any more of a tease. Is this really confirmation for a sequel, or is it just a very inconveniently-timed joke? It's bad timing, since Sensei just happened to drop this hint on the last day of the Dojo. We doubt if we're going to hear much from him once the fansite closes down, but if Ubisoft has anything to say, we're all ears... Updates, anyone?

Red Steel was a steaming pile. To its credit it was one of the most highly anticipated Wii first person shooters to fail miserably. Call of Duty 3 succeeded in delivering a noteworthy fps feel to a console but lacked multiplayer. Given a choice of the two I would rather wait and see what else the Wii comes up with.

» heh. sounds good

it's a good game! many see it better than others if they just overlook some of the bugs. but i've been working hard on that site, i managed to get a notebook, a t-shirt, copy of red steel and a red steel soundtrack from there. it wasn't easy, but it was worth it. i hope there's a red steel 2 though. it sounds awesome

» hmmm

i would have to agree with jtmack. red steel is a really good game. (my favorite on the wii so far). you just have to take into account the fact that it is a first gen game on the console...and it is ubisofts first attempt at something like that. for what it is worth i thought it was an awesome game. im having fun with it anyways.

» The game failed?

I think people dont give the game enough credit. The main problem may be the hype of this kinda game coming out on day one of the Wii launch. By this kind of game I mean

A) Its a Mature game on a "kiddy" console.

B) It was one of the first (or it THE first) game to be announced.

Of course flaws would appear on the first games of a consoles life, especially something like the Wii. It seems the Wii is doing what the DS was doing. At first games on the DS didnt utilize the touch screen much and now you have games where if you didnt have the touch screen, it would be VERY hard to play. Games will evolve like that for the Wii too, and that means we'll will have some REALLY innovative games. So Red Steel 2 will most likely fix 90% of flaws it has now, and may be even more unique.

» The Dojo Awaits Sensei's Return

All of us from the Dojo believe that Red Steel 2 is in the works! and we greatly anticipate the official announcement and Sensei's return to re open the boarded doors of the Dojo

Personally I really hope theres a sequel in the works!

» i loved it

everyone i know with a wii and red steel says this game was horrible but if you played it all the way through and were actually good at it then you would'nt say anything bad about it.
