If you thought that the Nintendo Wii isn't bad-ass enough for you with all its kiddie and educational titles, you might have to do a double-take. Its exclusive shooting prospect Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles from Capcom has been rated 18+ by European ratings board Pan European Game Information (PEGI) to stop kids from getting their hands on it.Worse, Germany dealt a harder blow to one of Capcom's most celebrated franchises as Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles was denied a rating in Germany, effectively banning its sale in one of the world's major gaming markets.
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is one of Capcom's biggest up-and-coming offerings and is an anticipated support game for the launch of the high-profile Wii Zapper peripheral. It takes players back through the Resident Evil series starting from Resident Evil Zero down to the fall of the Umbrella Corporation in between Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Resident Evil 4. The game also marks a first in the Resident Evil franchise in the sense that it's an on-rails shooter rather than the traditional survival horror experience.

Capcom guy 2 : I know that
Capcom guy 1 : You don't care?
Capcom guy 3 : Didn't you hear? Banning gives us street cred. I think we payed them to announce the ban.
Capcom guy 2 : Exactly. When they un ban it the sales are sure to be higher than they would have without it.

News flash, PEGI is just a guideline to follow, unlike BBFC it is not law. So a 5 year old could buy a 18+ Pegi game.
I'm sure it will get a proper BBFC 18 when it gets released. If it doesn't whats the point of a rating at all.
In fact, whats the point of PEGI in the first place.
