DVD image - Image 1Remember the Wii exploit that allowed you to dump Wii discs onto the PC? Yeah - we thought it was cool too... until we heard the details on the 50-hour waiting period needed just to burn a Wii game image onto a CD. This time around though, somebody has gone and developed an exploit capable of doing the same task at only three hours. Still slower than evolution, but a definite improvement on the past exploit.

The dumper's named Rawdump v1.0 Final Released, and aside from the considerably fast image dump capability, it comes with a complete re-write of the dump code, error correction, and integrated unscrambler.

As for the developer's changelog:

Changes 0.4 - 1.0:
Faster!!! (dumps a Wii disc in 3 hours)
Complete rewrite of dumping code
Error correction
Integrated unscrambler

Changes 1.0 - 1.1:
Fixed division by zero bug
Took out the gdr drive detection code
Supported by wiinja modchip

Changes 1.1 - 1.2:
Tried fixing more bugs
Removed flash components

One important detail to add is that this dumper needs an LG Drive to get cranking - that the Wii runs on a Hitachi-LG rig. Given that there are already two modchips out for this particular console (Cyclowiz and Wiinja), we'll leave it up to you guys to imagine what the possible outcome of this news is (Clue: Arrr!).

# DVD rom required....Guest 2007-02-05 15:05
Say a friend of mine wanted to burn a backup of a disc that his dog ate. If he downloads the iso online and has a modchip, does he have to burn the iso using one of the special LG drives, or can he use any drive?

Thanks, my friend will appreciate it!

I think that your friend (you) can burn the DVD using any burner with any program because he (you) has the modchip. I think this is for those people who doesn't have a modchip.

earlier with that program that was 50 hours to make a backup everyone was saying "ok we can make backups but we can't do anything with them" So I think you are incorrect when you say this works for people without modchips. I think you need chips to play your backups.

I'm not sure though...

I plan on using the cyclowiz for gamecube homebrew and perhaps one day Wii homebrew... and it would be nice to backup my games like zelda elebits and excite truck... a 3 hour wait still sucks, but its better than having my 1 year old get ahold of my originals and thrashing them and not having a backup available...
