Rawdump now at v2.0

Disc dump exploits aside, there's a new version of Rawdump out, ensuring faster dumping speed and, as co-blogger Tim Y. puts it, more "Arrr!" sentences every day. Here's the changelog for the Rawdump v2.0:

bad stuff - Image 11.31 - 2.0:
  • Faster!! (dumps in about 2.5 hours)
  • Faster unscrambling
  • Status information while unscrambling
  • Works with USB drives!!
Rawdump is essentially an app that dumps the image of a Wii game onto an available format. You will , however, need an LG disc drive if you intend to dump the game onto a disc, so be warned. With the recent exploits of Cyclowiz and Wiinja modchips, it seems Wii owners are in for some intriguing developments. Whether they're positive or not, depends on your stand on piracy.

The only way to play your backed up games on your Wii is to physically install a modchip, there is no other method available at the moment.

Is this correct?

You are correct sir. Furthermore, if you're copying games via renting them, then you'll be using RawDump...not the most pleasant imagery. At least it's not called RipeDump...or SteamyDump.

Improvment from 50 hours to 2,5 hours is an improvement of 2000% Not bad.

But why the heck is Dark Alex a tag, does he have something to do with this one too?

# What it could mean...Guest 2007-02-07 10:42
This could mean that a Wii emulator may be possible, the controllers are already supported and such

Do they always come out 4.7 Gb, unreadable by any program? And likewise, GC discs are 1.35 Gb, unreadable by any program? They all show up as one big track. I have a GDR drive, 8163b, and I am hoping it is working right! Only way to know for sure is when I get my CycloWii!
