Dead Rising screenshot - Image 1Quartermann is at it again with his latest batch of rumors, this time to shoot down hopes for a sequel to the acclaimed Crackdown from RealTime Worlds and to hint at a new mixed martial arts title under the giant Electronic Arts' banner. Electronic Gaming Monthly's (EGM) popular rumor monger also mentioned a Patapon spin-off and reassured that Dead Rising 2 from Capcom is in the works.

After earning the honor of being dubbed as the best debut title of 2007 at the Game Developers Conference 2008, Quartermann made the disheartening claim that Realtime Worlds is not currently working on Crackdown 2. Microsoft's Shane Kim expressed interest in the sequel, and our fingers are crossed. However, we can still be excited about the developer's crime-infested online game ABP which has been in development since 2005.

On the fun side of rumors, Quartermann said he detected a mixed martial arts entry by EA. It's uncertain what license the big publisher will employ since THQ owns the rights to Ultimate Fighting Championship, and if we are to guess, the mysterious title could have no ties like EA's free-spirited Facebreaker. Strangling tough guys using the motion-sensing Wii also sounds like a good idea.

Another worth noting in this set of Quartermann rumors is the Patapon-related spin-off which could make its way to the PlayStation Network. Capcom's undead title may also see its revival soon, though we couldn't gather anything other than it's still in development as Quartermann admitted that his source was wrong about the city where the game is being developed.

» Could be good.

I'm interested in a Patapon spin-off but I don't really care about Dead Rising 2 so I will pass on that (I didn't even like the first one, especially with Capcom refusing to patch the small text).
