While it's nothing out of the ordinary for us to be running into Wiixclusive tennis games, we shouldn't take Grand Slam Tennis into that category. Did you know that this EA Sports title featuring the four Grand Slam events and the biggest ATP and WTA stars was supposed to come with PS3 and Xbox 360 versions? Electronic Arts announced last week that they've put those on indefinite hold, and now you can read up and find out why.

The PS3-360 versions are of course, visually better than in the Wii, although the graphics are still pretty much Wiinfluenced. With no motion control currently available for the two systems, the developers had to work with analog sticks with the option of using the face buttons, just like what EA Sports did with Fight Night.

Luckily, our source at IGN knows his tennis, spotting inaccurate grips on top spin and slice strokes, and even single-hand backhands from Rafael Nadal. Many times, the inaccuracies would go as far as you being unable to make proper contact and response from the ball. In a nutshell, physics were far from release-worthy. The PS3-360 versions were supposed to come out Fall later this year, but given the problems, this one may or may not even see the light of day.

» Nintendo... good?

LOL you are obviously a messed up 8 year old kid. Tennis is supposed to be played with a wiimote? Really?.... You know last time I check tennis was meant to be played outdoors on a court not in your loung room.

Nintendo is not .1 in innovationg, the Wii uses simple technology which can even be found in the PS3 controller. A tocuh screen on DS? Gimme a break.

I have a Wii, DS, PS3 and a PSP. I straight off hate my Wii and DS. The Wii has boring games apart from the odd exception, (Mad World, No More Heroes).. DS is just plain boring apart from Chinatown Wars which is coming to PSP anyway.

No, I think Sony and Microsoft both have brains. Also look at the PSWand and Natal, I'm pretty sure there a bit more innovative then Nintendo.

Nintendo has really pissed me off with making me spend money on the Wii (which I found fun for a week)... And yes I do have around 20 games on the Wii. I shouldve spent my money on a 360 instead. And thats what I'm doing, selling my Wii to buy a 360.

Nintendo is boring and make kiddies consoles, Sony and Microsoft all the way. And why do we care about a tennis game? I really prefer to play the real thing instead of pretending to be pro.

I enjoy Virtua Tennis on my PS3 and PSP. Not sure why since I'm not even a sports fan. Virtua just seems fun. Don't think I'll need this one.

And yeah I still prefer using the PS3 pad than the Wiimote. When I play games I wanna sit down and relax a bit, not stand up waving my arms about like an idiot. I get enough real excercise most of the time I'm not gaming.

» Wii Tennis games are garbage

I play Tennis. It's a sport that at higher levels is less about using a normal grip like everyone else and more about branching off into different grips(Western,S emi-Western) and shots based on playstyle preferences(Dro p Shots, slice, Kick Serves, etc). So unless you are are legit newbie at tennis, you will not enjoy Wii Tennis games, the same for anyone who has played a real sport and then played the Wii version. The new Playstation Wand thing looks much more promising for games like these as it recognizes movement much more fluently. I haven't used MotionPlus yet, so I hope it improved, but the Wiimote itself does very poorly tracking the X,Y,Z axis of your movement to the point where a lot of times it feels like the animated entities on screen suddenly move rappidly (anyone who has had to putt in Wii Golf knows this all too well). I'm also sure Natal could somehow pull it off, but as a Tennis player I would much rather use the Playstation wand.

People need to stop defending the Wii, it's good for parties, but alone it's boring, there are maybe 4 good games out for it right now, and as far as it being good for excersize goes, if you want to lose weight do cardio, it's 100 times more efficient than swinging a want back and forth.
