PS1 emulated on Wii: WiiSX demo video |
Ó

The wonder team of Wii homebrew developer who brought us the Wii64 Nintendo 64 emulator for the Wii is now about to set the Wiibrew scene ablaze again. This time, they're shooting for another golden platform to emulate on the Wii: the PSOne.
WiiSX, as the PS1 emulator is to be called, is still in its work-in-progress status. It's actually a side-project that Emu_Kidid and Sepp256 are working on, with Tehpola helping out on some stuff, while the Wii64 project is still being perfected.
So what's the current development status of WiiSX? Here's what Emu_Kidid said in an interview with TehSkeen:
Basic Input and CD-Rom support are somewhat working right now, however they both contain numerous bugs we are aware of. // The only part which hasn't been ported at all yet is the sound processing unit (SPU). It's not necessarily needed to get things tested but of course will get done eventually.
Emu_kidid also hints that Wiimote support is "pretty much a given these days" and that Classic Controller and the Nunchuk combo may be possible in the future. You may read the rest of the interview in the Via link below. But for now, a demo video to tease all of us:

i didnt think this was possible with the n64 emulator not running anywhere near full speed with some games, then this ps1 emulator almost running perfectly, cant wait until its released
I never realised HOW powerful the Wii is!!
LOL
To be true, is what I'm worried about. I'm staying hopeful though ^^;
n64 is more powerful than psx... so it'll actually be easier
they better watch out ***** wii playstation is SONY not nintendo so please dont do *****
Emu_Kid and the other devs are reliable they made the N64 emu. It prolly wont be released untill they have it working nicly
Go crawl back into your Sony hole.
this is great news can't wait
AAAAAAAAAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA!
This is SWEET!!:D Cant wait till it comes out. The wii is kickin a$s! How fckin awesome is this! Im lovin the wii even more with news like this. XD
Being an owner of a PS3 for more than just the gameplay, I am really excited for this homebrew and I do not even own a Wii! Awesome job people...awesome. Hopefully one day we can return the favor and play some sweet N64 games on the PS3!
omg you DID NOT just say what i thought i heard you say.
and what of daedalus N64 emulator for the PSP huh? huh huh HUH?! and the Snes9xTYL project? if you're saying emulators should be exclusive of their manufacturer ...then what? should homebrew devs now quit making emulators of nintendo platforms for the psp simply because the psp is SONY and not nintendo?! hahaha.
hey everybody! dbzking says a ps1 emu on a nintendo platform is evil! hahaha! so daedalus n64 on psp is evil too! halt daedalus development because psp is a sony platform, not nintendo! harhaharharharS ARCASM!
do me a favor, will you. check out the sidebar of the pspupdates page and check out what's listed under EMULATORS. now count how many of those are NON-SONY platforms.
*facedesk*
sigh... some people... i swear...
It's true PS1 < n64 polygon per second wise. It doesn't seem like it would be true but if you research it a little bit it is. This is a great day for Wii Homebrew history!
It says the video is no longer available.
its called linux
ANd they playing my Fav Playstation 1 RPG! Chrono Cross, I have it in my PSP and I playing it, is hard sometimes, I'm stuck in the part that you have to kill the Freaking Hydra! He doesn't die!
But is good to know that The Wii is like powerfull as a PSP?
No I don't think is that Powerfull as PS3...
But in Hombrew stuff is like PSP...
Ok
Thanks!
PSPMAN90
this is actually really great news!!
The dreamcast was able to do 100% emulation of the PS1 so I dont see how this will stress the wii much.
Not to mention that with a LOT of optimizations the N64 emulator runs acceptably on the PSP. And we have 100% playback of the PS1 on PSP.
It should not take much to get this running full speed. Keep in mind even the PS1 had slowdown on PS1 games. So it will be hard to destinguish what is a legit slowdown and what is a "needs improvement" slowdown.
Either way, this is a VERY welcome addition to the wii. Give me classic controller support and I am happy. That means I can load up all the old Tony Hawk games!!
I was wondering though...do you think it's possible for the WiiSX to be programmed so that it could recognize and play PS1 discs?
I know the article said that CD-Rom support was being worked on, but I dunno if that means playing with DVD-burned ISO's or using the actual PS1 discs...
Either way, I can't wait for the final released version!
nice job, trigger, you managed to say the same thing in 3 different paragraphs.

linux on the ps3 can't emulate n64, no 3d support, nice job with the sarcasm you douche
not very impressive since ps2 and psp play them despite being weaker.
what you fail to realize is that the psp is made by sony, so sony is able to emulate their own code a LOT better. If we had a perfect knowledge of the code it would be a different story.
Its still impressive that its on, and working. With some minor tweeks we should see full emulation.
LoL Mister Nonsense fails to realise many things. Im suprised he still trolls the Wii boards...
