Project O isn't your typical Sims game |
Ó
Though it may have been compared to Sims Earth and god sims like Populous and Black & White, the player doesn't play God in Project O, as Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada pointed out in an interview with CVG. In fact the game being created by an all-star developer team who've worked on titles such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest will be a life simulation with a story.
Banking on his experience with Harvest Moon, the game will pit the player as part of the community of people milling around and actually see the world develop around him. Wada explains, "In Project O the gamer plays among the people and creates the world around them from ground-level, not as god."
The simulation will be open-ended, but not without a deep story for the player to relate to. The player will take on a role of one main character - whose name has yet to be revealed - set in the backdrop of old age Europe and will be quickly drawn into a world where relationships established quickly define what the player can do in the world.
Wada said that the player can select one person to perform a task, and then that person "will go off and talk to several other people, who will then start to change the world around the player." Project O was announced to be gearing up for amazing AI, pushing past the capabilities of the Nintendo Wii to unimaginable heights. Spore clone, this is not.
Unfortunately, there hasn't been any word on multiplayer or multi-play over Wi-Fi. But it has been announced that Downloadable Content">downloadable content will be available over the wireless Internet connection. Project O will be coming in a new name by 2008, but until then, the Nintendo dream dev team prefers to refer to the secret title as "Project O."
