Piranha W14 Shooting Gun - Image 1With the Wii Blaster/Zapper attachment still in accessory limbo, a new light gun mod for the Nintendo Wii has surfaced. Piranha Accessories is currently offering the W14 Piranha "Shooting Gun" for the Nintendo Wii.

Piranha has deviated from the shotgun-y flavor of the Joytech light gun and has come up with a more compact handgun design. The light gun has a rubber coating for extra grip and also has a real trigger, which adds to Piranha's whole "realistic design" marketing point. The picture quality's kinda bad, but it looks like a suitable accessory for use in the upcoming Resident Evil games for the Wii.

Oddly enough for a website that's supposed to promote products, the Piranha website doesn't seem to list a price tag for the light gun. Actually, we couldn't find a price for any of their products. A release list from Gameshop Twente lists the W14's price as €19.99 (US $27), though.

Looks like a Desert Eagle. I don't think the wii-remote can work like a light gun so you won't be pointing this sucker like an actual gun. Or maybe the wii-remote can work like a light gun. If thats the case then I may have to get this. But if it has the orange safety paint on the end of it I'm not.

» The Wiimote could work like a light gun

But it would need to game to reset the settings in the Wiimote and set new ones which do put the cursor where it's pointed.

By default it wont though.

No, natively it cannot, that's now how the technology for the pointer function works, the wiimote doesn't pick any thing up from the tv, it's all handled inside the controller using the "sensor" bar for little more than a point of reference, want proof, point your wiimote at an open window on a sunny day and while it may not be perfect, you can still mostly control the pointer, the only thing that works like a light gun is a light gun, which the wiimote is not...well unless it has mirrors inside to capture the screen image and the proper hardware and coding to make sense of that info. this isn't to say of course that a light gun couldn't be made for the Wii, but the wiimote will not do it properly

» No Nunchuck needed.

It has a connection in the back of the inside of the gun so u can use the analog stick on the back of the gun. U dont need the nunchuck.
