Pachter: Microsoft "foolish" to fuss about top spot |

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has just predicted that the PlayStation 3 will outsell the Xbox 360 this March. Now he's back to comment more on Microsoft, particularly on its desire to emerge on top of the next-gen console wars against the Nintendo Wii and Sony PlayStation 3.Speaking in the latest podcast from the Official Xbox Magazine, Pachter described Microsoft's decision to pursue the top spot as "foolish." According to him, it is more important to be profitable than to be first:
I don't understand why Microsoft has to be first. It is part of their DNA, but they really don't need to be first if they're profitable. To finish first and lose a few hundred million dollars a year is a bad idea. To finish third and make a few hundred million dollars a year is a good idea.
Pachter mentions how happy Activision and Ubisoft are with making money even if Electronic Arts edges them out for the top spot. He believes that Microsoft should focus on doing the same and not worry about being a runner-up. Almost everyone I know is now achieving getting all 3 consoles. So I don't know about you guys I see that eventually a lot of ppl will own all of them except for some die hard fans who refuse to buy such and such console. But in a general sense a lot of ppl got all 3 or at least 2. Ok then, what's my point? If so, what does it matter which outsells which? Will BlackBerry outsells IPhone? Will Coke outsells Pepsi? Intel already outsell AMD (for now)? Now, here is another example. Will AMD go out of business because of that? I wouldn't count on that.

There's some people who don't care about 360 exclusives Halo,Gears,NG2,Fable 2,Banjo,Alan Wake,etc. There's also some people who don't care about FF,MGS,KZ,R2,GT,GoW,etc. There's also people who don't like the Wii low powered games or don't like Mario games,etc. Everyone have their own personal tastes. I own all 3 myself,but I can understand why someone would only own 1 console.
Pachter "foolish" to think anyone gives a crap about anything he says.
