Opera browser free download offer ending soon - Image 1

While the Wii's Opera features were a surfer's dreams come true since it's launch back in April, Nintendo is going through with their free period deadline, and Wii owners' free Opera browser download days are drawing to an eventual conclusion.

Kotaku reports that they've received an email warning that the free period deadline - which is later this month - is getting really close, and that Nintendo will be pushing a pay-to-surf scheme starting in July. The proposed regular price of the Internet Channel's Opera browser is reported to be 500 Wii points (US$ 5), while it is still assumed that Internet surfing will cost Wii owners only their Internet service provider charges and nothing more.

So if you've got a Wii and haven't gazed upon the Internet Channel yet, drop by the Shop Channel and download the Opera browser while it's still free. There are also plenty of updates for the Wii version of Opera, so you'd have to update your Wii software via the Virtual Console channel (one of many ways to do it) to keep your console safe from vulnerabilities.

Did the internet channel update yet again, and I missed this opportunity, or are you referring to the full version?
