Okami Wii finally confirmed by Capcom

Okami leaping to the Wii - Image 1After several months of keeping mum (or when they do talk, it's just for denial) on the persistent Okami Wii rumor, Capcom has finally confirmed that the celebrated PS2 title will indeed be heading over to Nintendo's next-gen console.

The puzzle/action title is just bound to get better, what with its compatible controls to that of the Wii's. It's exciting to imagine what can be done with the Wiimote when used on Amaterasu's Celestial Brush, that paintbrush used in the game's combats and puzzle-solving stages. Of course, it doesn't hurt either that it's got a riveting narrative that is fully reminiscent of ancient Japanese folklore.

The confirmation was made by Capcom to a London audience this week. Okami is said to be coming to the Wii by Spring 2008. We'll be sure to give you more dibs on this as they come.

How is the wii nextgen? It's like a overclocked gamecube!

Technology has nothing to do with being "next-gen", the Wii is next gen because it came after the gamecube just like ps3 and 360 came after their predecessors. But then again, the term "next-gen" can mean anything these days like the useless term "hardcore gamer" -_-

Back on topic, I've always thought Capcom should've made Okami for Wii in the first place because of how that brush is used. The only bad news is that this is still a ps2 port, a bad habit that almost every 3rd party developer is still doing to the Wii.

But I don't think that adding motion controls will make the game worth buying a second time. It's a great game, for sure, but I'm just being real.

next-gen means next generation. the wii doesnt really have anything that falls in that range. its just a toy dressed up as a game console. but okami is a good game, just not one that really deserves to be on the wii.

but it got excellent reviews and in my opinion is a great original game and really deserves more attention than it got.
