Of four million Wiis and 2007 next-gen predictions |
Ó
Benjamin Willcock seems to have a lot of time in his hands and a lot of thoughts in his head. The next-gen wars aficionado mentions in his blog that the Nintendo Wii has now shipped and sold just over four million units worldwide, which is (if it's true) consistent with Nintendo's plans. The entry was of course laced with the usual could-this-be-the-end-of-Sony questions. But it would have been nice if he has some actual figures to back up the claim. But if the good news is indeed true, then kudos to Ninty and good luck to MS and Sony.
Anyhow, he also mentioned some interesting 2007 predictions. He predicts that the planned six million Wii units by March 2007 is not only probable but Nintendo might even surpass it and Ninty might have sold 6.5 - 7 million units by that time. He also mentioned that MS would have shipped 11.5 million consoles and will pose a great challenge to both the Wii and the PS3. With regards to Sony, he says that by March, they would have sold around 3.5- 4 million units.
Just goes to show that anybody could make their own predictions. If Benjamin can come up with his own 2007 speculations, so can you. So use the comments section if you want to share your take on this.

the wii is not next gn
Wasn't it the next generation? I would say it was. It came out after the game cube.
Is it not being compared to 360 and PS3 which are also next gen machines?
If Wii is not next gen, then PS3 is just getting trounced by a very late entry last-gen console. So look at it however you want.
since all consoles are now on the market doesn't that make it current generation hardware?
my prediction: all consoles will sell more than a few units this year...
let's all speculate about something that is only usable outside of the industry as fanboy ammo...
any real gamer will buy whatever system a game they want to play is on.
u must be retarted to thingk that the wii is not a next gen system but before i go on what it is a next generation system please enlighten me what makes the ps3 a next gen system and not the wii is it the graphics? or the amazing 6 axis controlers or is it all of the amazing games because last time i checked the ps3 was getting trounced on, im not saying that its a bad system heck if i had the money id buy one but 600 dollars just for the system and no games is a little steep. i mean the wii is one of the most inavative systems in a while and the graphics arnt that terrible, on the other hand the ps3 has a hard time coming up with there own ideas i mean theyve been using the same controler for three systems and the name a musta been a real thingker.
