consolesAs we enter 2007, let's take another look back at last month, and catch up on an updated console report by NPD. According to the said firm, the Xbox 360 won out in last year's Christmas rush, with the Wii coming in a close second.

From November to December 25, the Xbox 360 recorded a total of two million units sold all over North America. With regards to the Wii, NPD reports that Nintendo sold roughly 1.8 million units since its November 19 launch, only 200,000 less than the Xbox 360's sales numbers.

Sony's PS3 came in at a 750,000 for the same time slot. Don't consider this a final count, though. This report is just a preliminary statement from the NPD group - the complete figures are expected to be announced later this month. Until then, we advice the fans to stay frosty, and resume their gaming.

Thats strange...

www.nexgenwars.com reported over 2 million for the Wii and the 360 sold nowhere near that much over the Christmas period. Weird...Id like to see some official figures.

Sold out.

These numbers don't MEAN anything compared to each other when all the units were sold. They couldn't possibly have sold more.

You know that you can also say..

... NextBox Three-Sh*tty and it still sounds like XBox 360? I'm guessing you're a twelve year old MS fanboy who can't afford a PS3.

spooks is confused

I can afford a PS3 but what good is it? I have the badass XBOX 360 for games and media and PC for internet and useful computer functions. Just because the PS3 makes a nice paperweight doesn't mean people want to spend that much for one.

The 2006 Sega Saturn (PS3) is losing bad

XBOX 360 sold almost three times as many systems as the PS3 during christmas rush, after being on the market a whole year. Yep demand on the 360 is still strong with no sign of letting up. Sure the PS3 was launched with limited supplies, but six weeks later they can be found on store shelves. Very bad news for $ony.

Sony's goal

Sony's goal was to sell 1 million world wide by the end of 2006. IF THEIR GOAL IS 1 MILLION HOW WOULD THEY OUTSELL THE 360 IF ITS SOLD 2 MILLION? Mr. Common Sense? rofl. you suck. Sony's achieved the goal of 1 million world wide and now they're planning on 3 million by Q2. Remember this is launch and the 360 is a year old. The ps3 is still hard to manufacture and sony is just pulling them outta their asses to ship to the stores. So before you count a 2 generation batch of consoles against a console a month old. Use some logic/

BS, this is not even NPD

this is a a prediction like the xbox 360 sell 1 million on november ( and fixed later with the 750k number) and the real number was half million aprox.

LoL!

funny how people expected a console that can't even keep up with the demand to outsell a console thats widely availible. Love how 360 fanboys are claiming they stay on shelves! where? walmart? that store doesnt even sell A/V recievers so why would you expect their customers to even have $400 for even a 360.

haha

hey WRONG....you forgot something. 360 fans are stupid. "360 sold 3times as many systems as the ps3 during christmas rush." were you surprised? were you waiting so bad to post that? it depends on where you live.... i dont see any ps3 in the bay area (Ca). 1 or 2 360s on the shelves....no Wiis. "Yep demand on the 360 is still strong with no sign of letting up." - if you can remember the Sega Saturn..... im sure you can remember the PS2!! hahahaha.....still going strong. but im sure you dont wanna post that here.

...

Actually there target was 4 million by the end of 2007. http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/kaz-hirai/sony-clarifies-2-million-ps3s-statement-195800.php Sony then cut the target back to 2 million because of production issues. And even as close as December 16 they re-issued a statement saying they would hit 2 million. http://games.techwhack.com/674/2-million-ps3-units/ Their Q2 target has always been 6 million. That figure hasn't yet been changed. In the article above they confirm that 6 million Q2 target. Sony had a poor launch no matter how you spin it. And now that their is reports of demand slowing down they better do something fast to pick it up again if they want to compete in 2007. I have a feeling that 2008 will be sony's year.

You want the truth? You can't handle the truth

This is a forum for grownups, haaaaa. PS3 will not be successful just because the PS2 was. Everything that made the PS2 successful is absent from the PS3.
