NPD clarifies recent sales reports

ConsolesThis is a correction on a news bit we reported two days ago about NPD. In the said report, it was stated that NPD had tallied up the sales of the 360, Wii and PS3 for the months of November to December.

It was further detailed that the Xbox 360 sold 2 million units, the Wii 1.8 million, and the PS3 750,000 units in the said time span.  It turns out that the news was falsely attributed to the NPD group, as their David Riley told GameDaily BIZ.

Recent media reports erroneously cited The NPD Group as having provided to CNBC December '06 retail sales for the video game industry. Although the specific CNBC segment included NPD's November '06 console hardware install base sales figures, there were no sales figures or forecasts from NPD for December 2006. NPD's December/Year-End sales data will become available Jan 11.

As they said, the official reports will be released in a week, so just take this in stride.

I Thought so.....

I Felt they Were False Numbers....As i have read many analyses saying that the 360 sales were actually disappointing this Christmas.. I hope its not Microsofts Marketing Devision Spreading False Rumours....

could be funny

ya know I saw 360s in almost every store I was in this holiday season. I heard they were selling great so I figured MS was just able to keep stores heavily stocked. I wonder if this was not the case... It would be funny to learn that the 360s numbers were inflated... but it is the holiday season and consoles sell very well during this time of year... I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers are still fairly accurate.

Truth or lies?

"As i have read many analyses saying that the 360 sales were actually disappointing this Christmas" Tsk tsk Broken_Hero, making up facts again I see. Can you provide links to these 'many analyses' reports you've read that says 360 sales were disappointing this Christmas? We'll know next week, but I don't believe a word you say. :)

Hmmm....Credibilty Issues

Why Go far...Here is a Link on your Very Qj Posted On 22 December About the Dissapointing 360 Sales... http://ps3.qj.net/index.php?pg+49+aid+77044 You can search More on the Net Yourself...I,m Not doing it For you... :)

LOL! What was that Broken_Hero?

This article on Dec 21st is Michael Pachter discussing how the 360 sales were less than HIS EXPECTATIONS and PREDICTIONS for the console. It is not an analysis of the ACTUAL sales of the 360 and other consoles this Christmas. So, I'm still waiting. Just analysis report will do. :)

Edit...

Just ONE analysis report will do. :)

Ummm...Are you Ok..GamerFood

When I said the 360 Sales Were Disappointing, I meant that Analysists are Finding the 360 Sales Through these 3 Months to Be Performing Lower Than Expectations... I.m Sure Michael Pathcher Has His Own Sources For Sales numbers for every Month.....How Did he Mention that the 360 Monthly sales were 200.000 Units Behind His Expectation if He Didnt have any Actual Numbers For sales to base his opinion on... So...you see He has His Own Sources for Numbers...which Led him to say that the 360 sales Are Disappointing this Period and are outselled By the PS2 an DS... you can review the Link...and while you are at it....Read the First Post Made in that Page...You may need it :)

Nice try

Firstly, I've fixed the link myself. For some reasons, characters change to '+' sometimes when you posts links here, and I haven't found a way to avoid it yet (it's really annoying sometimes). Second, it's good to see that you recognised it as HIS expectations, so why are you posting it here as if he's discussing facts? You said "this Christmas", now you're saying, oh I meant "these 3 Months". That's a big difference :) Besides, we already know how sales have gone over the last 3 months, including the PS3 and Wii since launch, but we don't know the sales over the Chrsitmas period. And it's not analyses, it's Michael Pachter, who has a reputation for being a big mouth with his predictions. If sales fell below HIS expectations, then HE was wrong, it doesn't mean 360 sales were disappointing (except to him). So like I was suggesting in my first post, there have been no analysis reports about consoles sales this Christmas and therefore nothing to suggest 360 sales were disappointing. So I think we should wait for those reports first, and then we can compare 360, PS3 and Wii sales this Christmas and argue which were great and which were disappointing.

Edit...

Should have said "Second, it's good to see that you recognised it as HIS expectations, so why are you posting it here as if he's discussing facts about Christmas sales?" Oh and, GamerFood is fine, are you ok...Broken_Zero? ;)
