No wai: Grand Theft Auto for the Wii? |

A rather questionable report from Germany-based Games Blog posted a number of images showing Rockstar Games supposedly testing a working Grand Theft Auto game for the Wii. The tester in the photos was using the Wii to fight, drive, shoot, and even bowl.
My excitement at the news was only drowned out by the hundreds of owls that suddenly flew into the office all hooting "O RLY?" Darn pesky owls.
Games Blog claimed that they got the pictures from a photo directory in Rockstar's own website. Don't bother looking for it - it's not there anymore. They supposedly stumbled upon the directory while looking for pictures of GTA: Chinatown Wars. I'd like to believe that they're authentic, but the owls are threatening to peck my eyes out if I do. They're very scary.
Assuming - for the sake of argument - they are the genuine article, one only has to wonder why Rockstar Games kept it under wraps this far into development, when they capitalized on GTA4's development way, way before it was released. Perhaps it's a test game for the Wii? It's a nice thought. Highly unlikely, but you can dream.

Ehh... did you looked at the source images? You surely won't expect that graphics from a Wii, do you? And also I do not clearly see the sensor bar, it could be glued to the bottom right of the TV, but considering the sensor bar should be put in the middle of a TV, that doesn't make much sense.... It would call this fake.
at the bottom right of the tv.The sensor bar is right there and the cable is leading it back to the wii.you can see it clearly if you pay attention.and the wii is capable of the graphics.the guys just playing on a pretty good tv is what makes it look better.im not calling this one a fake because with the unveiling of chinatown wars this wouldnt be a suprise at all to me.

The numchuk doesn't alllow you to turn if you tilt it sideways, lol. So fake. Nothing he's doing in that picture would make that car turn. No finger on the analog stick. Wiimote is straight up and down and no finger on the d-pad.
its not so much high res, as tv can upscale etc, and change such picture however i laugh at the fact, that people would believe the wii is capable of such high poly count its way too much for the wii, its the same for the xbox360 and ps3, which means guess what its a screenshot also why is there no video clip, the obviously required one as they took everal attacks in succession its a big fat lie, and you sir are an idiot, thinking the wii could handle it FANBOISM
I'd say fake. 1. The graphics look to good. It's just a 360 or PS3 version you see there. 2. "GTA-4-for-Wii-186.jpg"? Come on. No developer would seriously use a filename like that. 3. Why would this be the only english entry you can find on Games Blog? 4. As far as I know Rockstar doesn't have any studio in europe or africa. So why should "developers obviously testing the GTA Wii" on a continent where they don't even have a studio? Look at the wall socket. In America they use 3 thin connectors right? Well, on the pictures there are sockets with two round connectors. They are only used in some parts of africa and most of europe.
i bet there is a guy with a ps3 or 360 controller hiddden in the back lmao and the guy in the pic is waving a wiimote so he can look cool! THATS NOT WII GRAFIX lool where are u hiding the real system hmmm?
Your brain isnt working. It takes 5 minutes to knock up a script, launch GTAIV on the PC and within minutes of GTAIV loading your playing GTAIV with a Wiimote + Actions. Graphics too by the way. @ DVSDevise: Urm the Nunchuk (theres no M in it, you wouldnt call a group of Nuns a group of Nums) has sensors in it too. Just look at the different control patterns in NFS:Carbon. Though personally inferior to the sensors inside the Wiimote theres still motion there. Why do you think boxing games/minigames work so effectively on the Wii.
the wii isnt even turned on, is definitly a ps3 o 360 runing on the lcd, lol @ wii HD.

DO u guys forget about Rockstar table Tennis???... THe Wii can handle it....so which means...itys possible to run GTA on the Wii...LOL Who agreed with me....and beside it would be fun to play in a style of Wii mote and stuff XD how about fishing or bring up ur own GTA fighting move XD....that would be awesome dont u think.. I cross my fingers ...that it would come out ... pls jesus XD
at first i thought it was photoshoped but i couldnt make sure because the pics looks real, very real. so as the mates before me post there is just a ps3 or 360 somewhere lol but what cought my attention more than anything that the pics directory if you look closely its written that the adress is "index of /image/wii/" and the taps title too so the source is a pc files and the way i see it the source of those pic isnt rockstar site and look to the guy who play he also look germans rofl but it would be nice if its true thu
I gotta agree, the facts are saying it's not real. 1) he's driving the car by pushing Z button and turning Nunchuk. 2) european sockets 3 the games on the table are Wii's (white jewel case). test version of GTAiV and other Wii games for fun? No developer would name files "GTA IV for Wii ..." . I'm sure there woulde be codenames.
Actually, the Wii is capable of such graphics. Just look for a little game called Metroid Prime 3, the graphics on that game are as good in the picture. However, I do hope and believe this is fake. Just wanted to make it clear the Wii is possible of such graphics.
first off the plugs - those are round plug covers but the plugs themselves do not look to be any different than the ones I have in my house. I have no idea what the red ones beside it are, but those are clearly not the same plugs. \you can see that t he wii plugs are the same old rectangle ones i have on mine the wii - if you look closly I can clearly see the green light on the wii. it appears to be turned on in each picture the tv - look at the cable coming out of the tv. we see the power cord coming down the silver cable hider, it goes into the wall. then we see a grey plug coming out the side. in a few of the pics where they are sitting on the couch you can see that it goes from the tv to the wii. so, this still could be fake. but the only way I could guess to do it would be to take screenshots, put them on an sd card and then have the wii display them, and hold the remote up as if you were doing it. I see no other way to get the other console pics onto the tv. I dont see a dvd slot or anything to play it that way either. also the graphics - I too think they seem a little too high res for the wii. sure the wii has some great games, but metroid prime is hardly the same graphics as this. it was much smaller in an enclosed area for most of the game. its takes more power to have random events such as traffic, peds, and all that in an open world. Look at skate it. they had to take all the peds and traffic out to get the game to run, and even then its not as good as the 360 or ps3. look at quantum of solace. the graphics when it is outside are pathetic, and no where near as polished as these. the lighitng effects alone would take up way too much processor power. my conclusion is that this is just a quick fake. and a slide show played on the wii with someone snapping pics. nothing more nothing less.
The gamecube is capable of Metroid Prime 3, minus the controls. It was originally made for the Gamecube!
To the wii suck graphically/gameplay wise because 99.9999% of devs dont spend any time to improve graphics/gameplay and instead water them down to get more money "cough cough harmonix rockband 1 cough" But anyway i see your point. And yes, the wii cant do anthing close to 360 and ps3 graphics, but some games look simply amazing! Kinda like how the psp had to handle porting GTA, the polygon count was lower, but they squeezed everything they could out of the psp. Maybe its the same thing.....
Actually, rockstar north (the gta4 team) is located in scotland i believe. This is still a fake though
