Nintendo's post-impressions of Super Paper Mario |
Ó
After a successful 350,000 sales mark for the month of April alone, Nintendo's Super Paper Mario went from Mario fans' wet dreams to Wii superstar overnight, even as the title is only the first Wii spin off of a Super Mario RPG spin off of the Super Mario Bros. game. And to PR senior director Beth Llewelyn of Nintendo of America, Super Paper Mario is anything but paper light.
Even post-April sales numbers placed Super Paper Mario within the top five bestsellers on NPD sales charts, placing the first ever true-blue Mario title on the Wii as also one of the most successful Mario titles on Nintendo's new-gen console. It bested Nintendo's Wii Play in sales by 100,000 units.
Llewelyn agreed, stating, "Mario games continue to be a popular choice among Nintendo fans and Mario's debut on Wii was definitely well-received by millions of fans who enjoyed the 2-D adventure and RPG elements." She also added that the use of traditional controls and the new controls was a formula that worked well for the title.
"There is certainly a lot of nostalgia felt by fans while holding the Wii Remote sideways and controlling the game in classic Super Mario Bros. style," she concluded, just before hitting the "A" button and pulling a quick 2D switch to sneak past GameDaily.biz's querying clutches.

Maybe nintendo should have had a post thought about releasing the game so late in the UK...
The game out due out till september! what a pile of crock!
I rented Super Paper Mario and got to World 7 before I completely lost interest. The game is made for little kids. There are some Nintendo games that are made for Everyone that everyone can enjoy without feeling the least bit insulted by the way it's portrayed, but not this one. This game is seriously, made for anyone under the age of 13. The gameplay is severely lacking, there is almost no "wii specific" controls, the dialogue is long, tedious, and boring, and the plot is just pathetic. Let's not forget to mention that the 2D->3D->2D element is piss-poor. The level design is just completely archaic.
Above ALL else, I can't stand the fact that game journalists are to scared to say that it's a bad game due to the fact that it's MARIO. Grow some balls people. This game is going to be in every bargain bin in American next year.
When will this game be out for the PAL systems!!! (EU and AU) what a load of *****! September is so far off!!!!
FOR GOD SAKES NITENDO BRING IT OUT FOR UK!!!!!
very fun, plays like the old marios, kind of.
Cept for the special abilities :V
First off, chip your PAL Wii if you want to play this so bad. I did. Well worth it. And secondly, Paper Mario is a spin off of Mario RPG on the SNES, not Super Mario Bros.
