Nintendo's Fils-Aime: wish list of PS3, 360 games for the Wii

The Wiimote - Image 1Nintendo clearly made a very smart move when they decided to go towards a different direction with the Wii, focusing on a new way of gaming rather than on advancing tried and true methods. However, if you wanted to see your favorite Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games on the Wii, which would it be?

While the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 focused on power, the Wii opted to find a different mode of gameplay. But this decision caused the platform to be barred from games that needed a more powerful system so this was what prompted the San Francisco Chronicle to ask Reggie Fils-Aime - President of Nintendo America - what games from the other platforms he wished the Wii had.

Fils-Aime gave this answer:

I've been very intrigued with LittleBigPlanet (from Sony). [...] Microsoft has done well. There are a range of first-person shooter type games that are all very well done that could all do quite well on a Nintendo platform.

Certainly, the Halo trilogy - anyone who would look at that and say, "No, I think we could live without it," probably doesn't think real long about this industry.

Even games like BioShock. I thought that was tremendously well done. The writing was tremendously clever. I would love to see more of that type of content in the industry overall that actually makes people think a little bit.

Well maybe in the next generation of consoles, who knows? Maybe we'll see a port enter the market or something similar. What games would you like to see on the Wii?

Wait Up.....

If I recall I remember Reggie saying he wasn't impressed with LittleBigPlanet back at E3 this year and remember someone asking what he thought and said he wasn't impressed or something along those lines. I might be imagining it or he was talking about Sonys conference in General BUT im pretty sure he was talking about LBP.

This was what reggie said.....

"Frankly, Nintendo wanted to do some business with those folks, but to give Phil some credit, he got there first. That product, I think, is quite intriguing. I'm not sure how well it will do on the Sony platform, quite frankly, but I think that the product they showed was outstanding." Not exactly dissing LBP, more like dissing the PS3. ?? Like the wii will get complex games...

RPGs on the wii? I don't see how :S. And for violent games, this wouldn't sell on the wii since wii buyers buy it for the fun, not to killl and see gore and blood... Also, they don't want anyway too complex, the wii is like a home arcade for friends and family, they want it to be simple, and they want games where they can just relax and have fun, stress out, and power off after 10minutes if they want to (not a thing you can do in RPGs for exemple). I'm not against the wii, I'll buy one too with my ps3 since I loved the boxing game (played at my friend's fit, with lot of friends, it's really cool but after some match, errr, you smell a bit.. lol). But I'm more into really complex games, where you need to think before acting, like japanese RPGs (dislike american rpgs) like the final fantasies, star ocean etc, and games where you need to think really fast like assassin's creed (loved pop games) and MGS4 (where the goal is to AVOID killing ennemies, lol, really different than "Halo3" to take an exemple). Also, I don't see a game like halo 3 on the wii, lol. Metroid is looking nice on the wii, that's that the wii can get. But farcry on the wii... LOL it's not playable and it's not even fun. Also, for horrors game the wii simply CANNOT play them... In horror game, the most important thing is the graphics and the sound. You need to be immersed in 5.1 - 7.1 surrond with a beutifull screen where you can see well the things that lurks in the shadow... lol. Anyway, the wii is more on cartoon style, action, platform, puzzle, wierd (like katamari) and even racing (not realistic racing but cartoon racing like the jack racing game, the crash team racing games, mario cart, etc). That's why I'm not into it right now. Maybe that in the future, we'll see better games (for my taste) like the tales of symphonia that's been annonced, but it's still cartoon style. "reggie" should stop trying to destroy the image of simplicity the wii have, it's a great image and I think that having too much violent games on it would destroy this image. Anyway, I love every consoles, it's sad I don't have unlimmitted money, lol.

Link..

That Link doesn't work. I really don't think LBP would be the game it is if it was on the Wii. It would just be another gimicky game trying to utilize the controls just for the hell of it. Game wouldnt look that good cuhz there no HD on Wii and they prolly would go 2D Bright colors.

r you sure?

Dude, I have a problem with your HORROR argument. If you absolutely need 5.1 sound, and excellent graphics, why the heck did the original Resident Evils do so great on the PSOne? Graphics and surround sound do not make great games, software developers with imagination, style, originality, and innovation make great games. And because the fate of every game stands on the developers shoulders, it can be on any console.....No matter how strong, different etc. Another thing, just because the Wii does have some cartoony games, does not mean that any other genres cannot survive as well. I know that there are many people out there like me who love a variety of games, and prefer to be a lover of all games alike!!

..

You're right about the graphics.. I can still go back and play Silent hill on psone and it's can still be scary.. but some times, graphics makes or breaks a game. a game with batter graphic has a better ability to be immersive, at least to me it does.

.

Nintendo could only wish the Wii could handle games like Bioshock and Halo. Maybe they should have spent a little more money on development (and took some losses on hardware like the others) and put a decent CPU/GPU in the Wii instead of visiting the recycled Gamecube parts bin. As TRUE next gen games get better and better and the Wii is left out with crappy minigames and 20 washed up mario games, the Wii will die a slow horrible death in dusty attics everywhere.

hmmmm.....

the Wii won't die it's gonna win this console war, even though I'm not a big fan of the Wii everybody wants one i can't imagine a ps3 or 360 outselling it,it's so casual a housewife can pick it up n play it.I would prefer m$ or sony 2 win but their not nintendo reclaimed their position as #1
