Nintendo will launch Wii on midnight

The well-oiled Nintendo marketing machine is kicking into gear (we mean "well-oiled" only metaphorically - this is a Rated E blog; we can't have oil-covered marketing execs parading in the streets - Perrin Kaplan would probably not allow it, at least not until Mardis Gras).

From New York to Los Angeles, the Wii goes on sale at midnight, the morning of November 19. Toys "R" Us Times Square in Manhattan and GameStop at Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles are having midnight launches.

We bet it'll be like an Aztec new year orgy, because in a sense, it will start a new era of gaming. So we are expecting a countdown, live music and entertainment (dancing oiled-up marketing execs, perhaps), fun, games...

...and cutting out the hearts of a few Rabbids to appease the Lords of Gaming.

we doubt this choir will be singing

Ask your local retailer if they're also having a midnight launch party. They might as well, because people anxious to get their Wii are going to line up outside the store before midnight anyway.

Anyway, the headline of a recent article says All systems go for Wii's launch but shortage expected. Ominous, huh? What if they run out? What do you do? Party!!!

is there a costco. or sams club close? beat the rush and just get one there. i got a 360 on launch there and there was no line and there was a pallet full of them. buy a day pass go in and buy one. these members only stores often never sell out of the new system because the demand from the members is not high.
