The new Wiimote Light Sword - Image 1If you're a Star Wars fan and a Nintendo Wii owner at the same time, then this little peripheral might interest you: the Nintendo Wii Light Sword is now available. Reminiscent of a Jedi's lightsaber, the Wii Light Sword plugs directly onto the front end of your Wiimote, which becomes part of the sword's hilt.

Special features of the Nintendo Wii Light Sword include a power up and power down light effect, twenty-two ultra-bright light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and of course, an on-off switch. Nintendo Wii Light Sword runs on three AA batteries, which you'll have to buy separately.

Unfortunately, the Nintendo Wii Light Sword peripheral appears to be available only for UK Star Wars fans. Play.com is selling the peripheral at a special UK£14.99 price (approximately US$ 30.86) down from the regular retail price of UK£19.99 (approximately US.16). To date, there has been no word yet regarding the possibility of joining two Nintendo Wii Light Swords together hilt-to-hilt in true Darth Maul fashion.

Everyone is trying to cash in on Wii's success by releasing crap. This and the Wii sports attachments: totally worthless. Next thing you know, someone will make a R.O.B. for the Wii.
