Mature audiences play Wii because of health and playability - Image 1It looks like more and more people are still being attracted by Nintendo Wii especially mature audiences because of its playability, lifelike motions, and mild workouts. They experience these while playing games, which helps their physical condition.

The Riderwood retirement community held an occasional tournament of Wii Sports, involving bowling, hockey, and shooting. Not only was it beneficial for their health, it was also easy for them to get well acquainted with the gaming console.

As matter of fact, 79-year-old Nancy Davies was able to beat real-life bowler Hal Winters for the championship. Winters has been playing with 12-pound balls while Davies has only been practicing with the Wiimote.

With this trend, Tiffany Lundquist, spokesperson for the Maryland chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, commented that, "They've picked up on the health aspects of the Wii in which users physically act out the game while holding a joystick in front of a television."

Since when does Wii Sports have shooting or hockey?

This article makes it seem like the Wii helped an old lady to beat someone at bowling in real life. She beat someone playing bowling on the Wii, and the article makes it sound like a big accomplishment. Experience playing real bowling has nothing to do with how you perform in Wii sports and Wii games require no real life skill whatsoever.
