A new High Definition Solution Pack from Datel for the Nintendo Wii has just been released in the US and UK, and we're guessing and hoping that this would make a lot of Wii owners who want to get the most out of their Wii happy. The pack is currently is priced at £29.99 in the UK, while it's going for US$ 49.99 in North America.

The pack includes a High Definition cable, 1 GB SD card, and MAX Media Manager Pro PC. The HD component cable will allow Wii owners to connect their console to their HDTVs, while the 1 GB card can be filled with music, videos, Podcasts, and downloaded saved games from your PC, which you can then access with your Wii. Another plus is the addition of MAX Media Manager which some users have found to be very convenient for organizing their media files.

All in all, the High Definition Solution Pack seems to be a very nice offering by Datel, although the question remains on whether just how many people are okay with ponying up US$ 49.99 to get the Wii's performance to the next level

It's not really "High Defenition" is it? More like "ED".

480p = 680x480, progressive instead of 720x576 interlaced with PAL. Big deal...

Since the Wii cant really display pictures in high def, it'll still look just as crappy as that Wii demo videos in the stores. I'd rather just have a wii plugged into a standard tv cus it gets rid of all that fugly grainyness.

576i = 720x576 @ 50Hz

480i = 720x480 @ 60Hz

480p = 720x480 @ 60Hz

But yeah, this is really just a component cable and probably some PC software to convert your videos to MJPG format. What a suckers.

# who really cares about graphicsGuest 2007-04-12 14:11
I mean seriously. The Wii is 10 times as fun as any other console out there (and a further 10 times when online FPSs emerge :P). Who cares about graphics? Do we really need games to look like real life? I mean fair enough good graphics are good, I mean the tech demo for the CryEngine made me cry that my 7900GT probably isn't even enough to run that.

The Wii is a console that was designed for awesome gameplay, and we all bought it because of that (or because is wasn't ridiculously priced).

No-ones said anything about the Wii's game graphics, this is about how it can't display proper HD.
