the alleged Wiivolution - Image 1Sacre bleu! Could it be true? Nintendo is facing off the competition with a new version for the Wii, allegedly named 'Wiivolution'. This was the buzz from Game-X-ray, and reported by French site Game Focus.

According to the unnamed source, this would be in direct response to Microsoft's announcement of the much hyped Xbox 360 Elite. Hmm... we never really thought Nintendo would be coming after Microsoft. Curiously enough, the Wiivolution will sport a black casing as well, and would house a hard disk of 160 GB. Compare it to the Elite and that would mean 40 GB more than Microsoft's. Dreamy, eh?

But that's not all! There would also be an HDMI port as well as a DVD player with 1080i upscaling enabled. But what would actually be the revolutionary part in the Wiivolution is the Wiimote for -- get a load of this -- the feet! Yep, the good ol' Wiimote crushed under your soles or on your ankles.

This is all but a rumor (Note: we're leaning towards April Fool's Joke here, folks) for now. Nintendo has not said anything about this secret Wii HD, nor can we say that the anonymous source from where this originally grew is entirely reliable. But just the same, it can't be too bad imagining the possibility of such a console to exist, right? At least for laughs.

BullCrap

Yeah! Like Mushroom Kingdom Hearts! I don't think it is Nintendo's plan, it's not their type and it's not in there interest. Releasing a console to release a revamped console after that, when 7 millions already sold within 6 months. I guess they are just doing well with the Wii, they don't need anything yet, but they might be planning their next console.

BS

bull***** if you ask me. but on the other hand, ninty has never had a problem with letting someone buy the same thing twice (ex. GBA/GBA SP/GB Micro, DS/DS Lite). Not that it's a bad thing, there's always a reason.

.

Never. Not in a million years. The 360 Elite doesn't make the older 360's obsolete, this however does make older Wii's obsolete. And they aren't exactly older Wii's. They are about 6 months old. Nintendo wouldn't do something so callous. Happy April Fools everybody.

Aprils fools joke hardcore

This is complete bull *****, no way in hell would Nintendo add HDMI or 160GB, it would just drive the price. how would they even fit the HDD into the current Wii design, the answer is they couldn't they'd actually have to make the Wii bigger and I seriously doubt they'll do that considering they till have troubles meeting current wii demands. Also, why on earth would they even add HDMI when the console can't even do HD graphics for games, yeah sure it can be used for upscaled DVDs but component cable can handle that easy so their is no point of HDMI. In the end this just proves it's self that its all April fools bill ***** jokes.

wii are not fooled

Nintendo made the Wii to be and affordable console. Unlike Microsoft and Sony's efforts. Adding DVD capabilities and HD would make the Wii too expensive and that is totally against Nintendo's means. They even said on their own site that they didn't add DVD playing features because it would add to the price. And Wiivolution sounds really stupid, Nintendo are better than that.

wow

It's amazing how people can take something they know is an april fool's joke and pick it apart still like it's real news... here's the process... look, laugh, move on.

160 GB?

The Wii with 160 GB? I doubt it.
by - 2007-04-01 09:03:15
bull*****

lets double the size of the wii and ***** over everyone who bought it a few months ago. nintendo it notorious for doing crap like this. but not this big. they wouldnt screw there existing install base over. thats why anyone who believes this is a fool.
by - 2007-04-02 00:26:50
Never

I doubt you would have a use for 100,000 different channels on your Wii. You would need a search engine to find a channel, lol

your no fun

it's fun to think of what you could do with 160gb
