If you thought that Nintendo would have given up going after the hardcore market now, you're dead wrong. They're more determined than ever, and they remain positive that yes, they can still win over the Halo audience.

Hardcore Wii gamers

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime expounds on this belief in a chat with CNET:

We think we [can] win over the Halo audience with something like The Conduit, a multi-player, online, shooting experience, or Dead Space Extraction. And you know what? Once those people buy into Wii, they'll go buy Mario Kart or Wii Fit Plus.

Well, do you think his sample games should be sufficient to do the trick? But  still, good on you, Ninty, for having that fighting spirit.

» just no

nintendo is never going to win me or the any hardcore gamer over. The gimicky controls with 480p max res is a fail.

the wii is fun when combined with alcohol at parties, i'll give it that.

» Hateboy

"Yo, imagine how awesome FPS games on the WII are going to be. Everybody always says that the mouse beats the controller any day, but think about a pointing device! It'll be awesome!"

Isn't that what I've been told.

"Red Steel will be awesome! CoD:WiiAtWar will be awesome! Red Steel will be awesome! The Conduit will be awesome!"

I'm the opposite of a fanboy. I'm a hateboy. I hate Nintendo and their filthy lies and sham of a console.

» Depends...

Some gamers just want Zelda and Metroid. If you're a real gamer you know those games are one of the only reasons to get a Wii.

@Orlyeh

Can't blame you for being a hateboy dude. Nintendo just hasn't really delivered any of the goods.

» Well good.

It's about time the abomination that is the Halo community gets away from Xbox Live. :)

» meh

any really hardcore gamer probably has one already.

i did before my ex took it...

» the Halo market eh?

the halo market is the easiest market to get besides the kiddie one

its funny to see Nintendo try to do something so feeble and pathetic!

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

I can prove you wrong with one post. I'm a hard core gamer and I LOVE the Wii.

You fail!

by kamanashi - 2009-06-09 04:49
» Not a total fail

Even though I like my 360 and PS3 more. THe wii has Metroid and Zelda, so it only partially fails. But, like you said, Nintendo will never win over the whole hardcore community.

Also, Reggie, if you are reading this, Wii Fit Plus will never come into my house because if I really want to stand on a board, I would go onto my porch.

» Matt91...

You are absolutely correct about Wii and alcohol combination. The only way I personally have ever enjoyed playing a Wii.

by thefinalhero - 2009-06-09 09:04
» Wait...

Since when did Halo have a hardcore audience?

Halo has a huge casual audience with a select few hardcore players that are too stubborn to move on to fair shooters that require skill to kill and not the ability to run around in circles for five minutes while you spray each other.

Also in regards to Nintendo's statement.

/facepalm

zelda is good but it would have been way better if you didnt have to swing the stupid controller every time to attack. metroid is also good but again, the pointing thing gets old fast

» ...

i agree with you completly

by Specht - 2009-06-10 01:40
» Quite the opposite actually.

Thinking the negative of a fanboy's mind doesn't make you the opposite. You're still just as annoying.
