Nintendo stands firm: no plans for Wii price cut |

Even with mounting pressures and the price cut spotted at Toys R Us,
Nintendo is still not giving in and makes a stand. CVG got word from a
spokesperson, and to no surprise at all, Nintendo brushes the rumors
off, saying that they have no price cut plans.According to the spokesperson:
We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is rumor and speculation.
This is rumor and speculation as Nintendo have made no announcements on price. Furthermore this is most likely retailer led much in the same way retailers in the UK offer price promotions on our products.
From this we can derive two possibilities:
- They might be telling the truth after all and there is really no price cut coming.
- They say "no plans" because they're already done planning and are about to make the announcement. Tricky wording. Remember that this is exactly what Sony said when the PS3 hardware redesign rumors surfaced. We'll be keeping our eyes on the Kyoto Cross Media Experience on September 26th, which Nintendo will be attending.
Waiting (or hoping) for the Wii price cut:

There's 20+ games that I recommend to any person getting or about to get a Wii. SURELY you can get enjoyment out of more than just 5 of those. And I didn't name a single 'minigame' filled disc. Though Wii Sports was extremely fun in tennis (for me) AND came with the system. Never tried WiiFit, don't care enough to pay for it.
There are plenty of good games that have made the wii worth it to me. I agree that BY NOW, it should go down. But at the start, 250 was a deal. 150-200 would be a deal now too.

Then there is the VC and WiiWare stuff.
Saying the Wii doesn't have enough good games isn't a good enough excuse now. The only stickler now are controls and graphics. Graphics will always (barring a WiiHD) be less than the PS3 and Xbox360 and are basically a moot point for me. I just don't care, that's my preference. Controls are not lacking compared to any other game, and therefore are moot too for me. Those are the only two arguments I consider valid now, and the graphics one is shaky at best. After all, games like Super Metroid, Super Mario Bros 3, and Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time are all old and don't look great, but still fun regardless of graphics. After all, they're FUN TO PLAY.
