Nintendo - Image 1In a bid to block the recent upsurge of Wii modchips, Nintendo has changed the circuit layout of its next gen Wii videogame console. This according to DigiTimes.

Retail channels in Taiwan, however, warned that new modchips for the altered consoles may become available in less than a month. This is a logical conclusion as earlier attempts by pretty much every console maker to revise their consoles' circuitry have resulted in newer generation modchips built specifically for the revised consoles.

According to DigiTimes, some Wii modders in Taiwan think that Nintendo could use ball grid array IC packaging in order to extend the time spent developing new modchips. DigiTimes' source noted that the longer waiting time could "reduce the willingness of some users to modify the consoles."

» WTF!?!?!?!?!

This is being done to appease the developers. This will actualy cost Nintendo more time and money to have to deal with.

What a waste of time.

this doesnt actually effect all of us pirates now and probably wont effect them in the future. maybe if ninty put some online games out which require some authenticity check i'd actually buy the games. actually if ninty put any games out worth buying besides zelda i might of not gotten a mod chip

» great fact not yet proven

does piracy means such as modchips and hacks makes game companies fail totally? if you go with the ways of sega dreamcast then i say its just the management that killed its system, how about ps1 and ps2? did they flop? did the ps/ps2 console and game makers failed earning money?

these are some of the questions in my mind that everybody knows the answer but will never ever will tell.
