Wii Balance Board - Image 1One of the more interesting things that came out of E3 is Nintendo's new video game Wii Fit. Basically, this game can be compared to an interactive weight loss program with a lot of activities available to make the experience a lot more fun that just plain exercise.

This title comes with a peripheral known as the Wii Balance Board. Speaking of which, we found out a couple of things about the said accessory. First and foremost,  the Balance Board will actually be taking your weight prior to any exercise.

At this point, you have to stand still and straight or your weight will register zero - meaning an error. Being a wireless device, it is logical to think that the board will be powered by an external source. True enough, players will be needing four AA batteries. Nintendo hasn't revealed any more details regarding battery life yet.

Several representatives also mentioned that other titles will be based around the Wii Balance Board in the future. We're seeing some surfing games or something coming our way. How about you?

wow this is lame. you have to stand still and straight for it to register. So its pretty much just a left and right scale. Then it gets the weight on the left and the right side of the board and adjusts the game.

» Ummm

Yeah, you have to stay still on ANY scale for it to weigh you properly.

Good luck to this device trying to get an accurate reading on everyones CARPET. So much for accuracy, unless you want to move it to a hard surface every time it wants to weigh you. Oh wait, does that sound lazy? Damn! I need this game...

exactly, its not an innovation, its a fuc9king scale. If it were new, innovating technology it would have a fu(cking gyroscope type thing or a way to measure in real time your weight dispertion.

» well...

check some of the vids guys! They are on carpet. But does the board have I/R? like the Wiimote? Do you have to be a certain distance away for it to work right? Guess we'll know when we get it.

» IR?!

I would assume that the balance board will use the same bluetooth technology that the wiimotes use... why would they use infrared?! That is only used by the wiimote to serve as a pointing device.

The idea of the balance board running on bluetooth also opens a wide array of possibilities for connection to PCs' bluetooth connections for some very interesting applications
