Wii Play - Image 1Wii Play finally arrived in North America days ago, and Nintendo is hoping that it's going to be big, if not bigger than Wii Sports. After all, the two titles are somewhat alike - a compilation of games that demonstrate the capabilities of the Wiimote.

Nintendo of America's Senior VP of Marketing and Corporate Communications George Harrison is quite hopeful:

Wii Play builds on the types of games and experiences people have come to love in Wii Sports. Millions of people around the world are recognizing Wii as the future of gaming. We are changing how people play games, who plays and how many play.

And with its pricing, it seems that Wii Play is really being pushed by Nintendo. The game comes packaged with a Wiimote for a suggested retail price of US$ 49.99. A typical Wii title retails around US$ 50 and the controller is priced at US$ 39.99.

Lastly, in case you've been living in a windowless room with a smelly, oily creature for the past months, here are the different mini games included in Wii Play:

Play will never be bigger than Sports

I've had WiiPlay since early December and there's no way it will become bigger than WiiSports......... with exception of a couple, the games don't offer much replay value and the medals are too easy to earn - after which there's no challenge left. The games I go back to are Laser Hockey and Billiards in 2-player. It needs to be treated as a £5 title which as it comes bundled with a remote is all it is...........

no...

Wii Play is $49.99, not $39.99. If someone got it for $39.99, I'd guess they got lucky.

...

i mainly got it for the controller as well, i thought the game would provide more than 30 minutes of fun gaming. i guess i had my hopes up way too high for wii play as well as the wii. man the Wii has been such a gimic buy(Personally) i mean the only publisher/developer to ever release games worth buying for a Nintendo Console is Nintendo itself. and personally i'm not a huge fan of Nintendos now crappy ass over done franchises.

Controller

I just bought Wii Play just so I can get the Wii controller. Man, those Wii controllers are so hard to fine and needed one so I can play some multiplayer. Wii Play is nothing but tech demo and the games aren't even worth playing over. Also, no 3-4 player support.

Bigger than Wii Sports...?

Im very confused...How can it be bigger than Wii Sports if every single console ever sold comes with Wii Sports already? Oh and Wii Play is fun for a few days and thats it. Its only worth the price for the controller, the game is like a freebie.

I cant see this being bigger

it is a big pile of poo, i only got it for the controller.

yes

everyone is getting the game for the controller. Controllers cost 40 dollars and this game is 50 dollars. So in reality the game cost 10 bucks, and yes it's worth 10 dollars. Wii Sports is only packed in for the US peeps. In Japan they need to buy it and it already pasted the million marker and Wii Play over there sold about 800k so it's showing it's worth but I don't know. Wii Sports 1-4 players Wii Play 1-2... how did that happen?
