Nintendo execs made Donkey Kong Country devs nervous

Retro Studios, the developers of Donkey Kong Country Returns, has a confession to make. Apparently, when Nintendo commissioned the game to them back in 2008, they were nervous about getting on board the project. What could have been the cause of their distress?

In the latest installment of Iwata asks, senior designer Tom Ivey made the revelation about their state accepting the game. "Before this project began, we went to Kyoto and met you and Miyamoto-san and... man, were we nervous!"

Being starstruck aside, however, the devs were confident that they can deliver the goods and satisfy Nintendo. It wasn't all too hard for them since a lot of their staff were actual Donkey Kong Country fans.

That's good to know, because it wouldn't be too well for them if they didn't get past their nervousness and it shows on their work. Donkey Kong Returns launches today in the UK.

They may have been really nervous but but boy did they pull it off.

Also, I aint too worked up over the kremlings. It's my understanding the kremlings were copyright of Rare, which as far as im concerned can burn in hell. The only respect for Rare i have left is the respect of old in the DKC 1 2 3 games, nuff said
