If you're a fan of Nintendo characters burning rubber and outdistancing each other on the racetrack, then take heart: Nintendo has confirmed that European gamers will have the chance to try out Mario Kart Wii as it hits stores on April 11 - just one day after its previously rumored launch date.

Nintendo has also revealed that Mario Kart Wii will come with the Wii Wheel, and yet there will be a total of five different control options for players:
  1. the Wii Wheel
  2. the Wii Remote turned on its side
  3. the Wii Remote and Nunchuk combination
  4. the classic Controller
  5. the Nintendo GameCube controller.
As Nintendo had previously confirmed, a new Wii Channel - the Mario Kart Channel - will be launched alongside Mario Kart Wii. Players will be able to monitor their ranking against other players, access and share Ghost Data with each other and allow players to either watch or jump right into the middle of a race that's currently in progress.

Pretty nice, too bad it will be a channel of itself, and not in the game, which could reduce the amount of block space needed for online racing fun. Awesome that we are getting rankings and such, but joining in the middle of the race...? Imagine if someone joined right in to take first place out of the would-be-victor! Embarrasing =p

Very. But then the player who got second place could do the same thing to the victor.
