Nintendo brews one last sWii-cret?

Will Nintendo defy gravity?"Double, double,
Toil and trouble,
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble,
Something wicked this way comes!"

But in this case, the term "wicked" here would be taken in its positive connotation. Or will it? Oozing its slimy way to the top of a lot of forums and other websites is another rumor. And it's making some gamers giddy like a child high on sugar after a trick-or-treat route, while some other people are taking the "news" with a grain of salt.

What the heck is this all about? GamePro has confirmed that Nintendo is holding back one last secret about the Wii which will be made known sometime around launch date. Whatever this "big secret" is, everyone's been hush-hush about it. GamePro has this though:

Question: I recently went into a GameStop store... I began to discuss the Wii system with the manager... He explained Nintendo recently held a GameStop Managers kind of meet and greet for the Wii, with Reggie present. He also said Reggie announced there is still one more big secret left on the Wii, which will be revealed around launch. I called another store and the manager there said Reggie did in fact say such a thing... I have heard it is potentially a graphics solution or a camera attachment.

Answer [Rice Burner]: Wow, you're up on your stuff. I can confirm that there was a GameStop retreat and Reggie did in fact say there will be another big Wii revelation around launch time.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We don't want to hype things up and then be let down in the end. It's entirely your choice if you're going to get excited over this bit of news or not. Some, including us here in QJ, are speculating that it could be something about the WiiConnect24 or maybe the Virtual Console. Or maybe a new Wii Channel they haven't revealed yet. For all we know, it could be something else entirely...

So, will Nintendo defy gravity with this big secret? That "Comment" link sure looks mighty useful right now, Donica think?

# The Teej Says...Guest 2006-10-30 08:30
The Teej says DISPLACEMENT MAPPING PATENT WILL COM INTO USE, AND MAY IT STRIKE DOWN ON THE ENEMIES OF ITS USER, FOR IT IS THE WAY AND THE TRUTH.

That is all.

With any luck, Nintendo will reveal that they've finally given up and will go the way of SEGA. Or just dissappear entirely.

# it is going to be the wii orchestra built in...Guest 2006-10-30 09:20
...because are you really going to go buy a wii game that lets you wave the baton around and direct music? cool but nobody will pay $39.99 for that.

i especially hope that it is not only built in to the console music channel but that any cd of mine i put in i can direct the song to play either fast or slow.

# I'm getting tired of saying this..Guest 2006-10-30 09:33
but come on, it's pretty obvious that what's going to be announced is that the Wii is in fact HiDefinition, 720p and will be 360 comparable. All the trailers and images to date, due to strict Nintendo control have been downscaled.

The writing's been on the wall for months :)

# Me thinks not..Guest 2006-10-30 09:35
Hmm, I don't really think so.. Mainly because Displacement mapping eats CPU (or GPU, not sure) recources. Which, as we all know, Wii just doen't posses the abundancy of the PS3 and XboX 360. So unless Nintendo has come up with some new techinique (which I doubt, displacement mapping has been around quite a while), more likely not I think... Would be cool though! (and a shame games like Zelda miss out on it...... Shurely they wouldn't want that?)

It's going to have an expansion port to put a paralel cpu and gpu like ati crossfire to have the power if it doesn't sell.

XD.

Or an aditional accessory to play dvd.

But probably it's a new channal or new service.

You're just trying to start trouble, and it makes this place an unpleasant one to come to. If I wanted to encounter trolls, I'd be home playing World of Warcraft.

How long have you been saying that? You might want to focus your attention elsewhere so you don't waste so much time contemplating something that's just not true. Even if it did support 720p (which has been proven false), that's not comparable to the 360. I love the Wii just as much as you do, but let's get real.

# what if...Guest 2006-10-30 10:46
What if Nintendo finally showed us some kick A** game that totally revolutionized gaming the way Super Mario Brothers did?

Or what if they reveled the true graphics of the system, and we all said "wow!"?

# More than likely...Guest 2006-10-30 11:04
It's going to be a channel. And it's not like channels are small news. I was really surprised to hear about Wii channels and I got to admit that I am really liking them.

My parents won't go near a computer, but they watch TV all the time. Saying that people would rather surf the net on the computer or leave an e-mail there is not necessarily true.

I for one know for a fact that my parents would be more likely to use the Wii for the internet and posting messages, e-mails and digital images. My mom keeps up with the weather a lot and my dad likes the news. If there was a new channel, like "Wii Recipes" or "Wii Radio" that'd be cool.

The surprise is a Karaoke Channel. Just buy the microphone attachment for your wiimote and it'll let you rock the house at your own house!

Just think, four wiimotes - and microphone attachments - lets four people sing (horribly) to their favorite songs!

# ps2 supportGuest 2006-10-30 14:48
it will be able to emulate ps2 hardware like the intellevision did for the atari 2600 (lawsuit over that, intellevision won)

Maybe that isnt too likely, but that would hurt the hell out of sony, as the ps2 has a couple years of life left in it still. What do you guys think?

My manager siad nothing of this but he a idea that Zelda could be included with the console itself at launch..."sweet nice Scott (My Managers name in Puyallup WA)"

My idea is that it is like a voice chat system that hooks up bluetooth and you can chat with your freinds or some bluetooth as well. Tell me what you think of my post at rsjackdupp@yaho o.com

# Is Ralph paid by Sony?Guest 2006-10-31 09:59
I've seen Ralph at any site or blog dealing with Wii. Trying shot it down. What a Sony Nazi you are. Graphic whore! I'll tell you something that will pissed you off. There are more sold out Wii reservations than PS3. Yup it's true. Not just because there more Wii's, but Wii's are actually being reserved at a faster rate. Ask a retailer! That's what my Gamestop said. And Ralph if your always on some Wii site trying shot it down because the media beating Sony has taken over the months, or cause Sony's paying you, or because you mother left your father for some guy who works at Nintendo, or because your like the millions who want a wii, just buy one already, or quit being so negative. Like it or not, listen to the news, reviews, retailers, internet my friend Wii IS going to sell just like the DS "which owns the PSP in sales". Let it go...............not everyone wants a bunch of graphically over baring shooters, or long drawn out RPG's set in Camelot.

cletus what are you talking about it aready has taken controll of my life and the world

maybe they will allow you to stream your own music to the console, that could be done just by adding another channel. And like the xbox 360 it would play as the games music. Even if they do not allow you to do this i have been thinking of a way to do this through the web browser which is totally do able.
