Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Image 1Nintendo has partnered up with Best Buy to launch a series of four regional Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii tournaments to celebrate the North American launch of the game.

These tournaments are slated to be held in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and New York . Expect the competition to be stiff considering the single elimination format. Regional winners will then have to face off in a final multiplayer "brawl" at the New York City tournament.

The champion of the tournament will be getting a custom-designed, crystal-covered Wii, a home theater system from Best Buy, and a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The second-place finisher will receive one Wii system and Wii Remote, one copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and a $1,000 Best Buy gift card. The third-place finisher will receive a Wii and Wii Remote, a copy of the game and a $500 Best Buy gift card.

No one will be going home empty handed since all 256 participants of each competition will be getting a US$ 10 Best Buy gift card. Here's a list of the scheduled tournaments and locations in case you're interested in joining:

Yeah, so do you plan on joining? It would be cool if we could get a contingent of Wii gamers from QJ.NET to participate.

One hour isn't too bad, especially if you get your groove on and start pwning other players. :D

Hey, you might be lucky enough to pick up the win. After all, everyone's still pretty new to the game right? :D

I'm ok, but I don't have faith in lasting until the end. I sent my friend a link to this and I said I'd go with him because I'm sure he'd kick everyone's ass with Peach, but he has to work that day and he can't take it off.

The $10 giftcard would be about what it'd probably cost for gas.
